On September 21, 1972, Martial Law was declared under then-President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Sa ilalim ng rehimen, malawakang nilimitahan ang kalayaan sa pamamahayag at pagpapahayag, habang maraming Pilipino ang nakaranas ng arbitraryong pag-aresto, torture, enforced disappearance, at iba pang paglabag sa karapatang pantao.

Ngunit ang pag-alala ay hindi lamang tungkol sa nakaraan. Sa panahon ngayon, mahalagang maging mapanuri sa impormasyong ating tinatanggap, huwag hayaang mabura o mabago ang kasaysayan, at patuloy na pangalagaan ang ating mga karapatan at kalayaan.

Bilang mga kabataan at hinaharap na health professionals, tungkulin nating dalhin ang mga aral ng nakaraan sa kasalukuyanโ€”upang hindi na maulit ang mga pagkakamaling minsang nagdulot ng matinding pagdurusa sa ating bayan.
