DAY 2 SUCCESS | 18-Day Campaign to End VAW 🫰
NEMSU Lianga Campus

With God’s guidance, Day 2 of our 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women became a meaningful and successful gathering as we held the VAW Forum with the Youth in partnership with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR)- Caraga and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) Philippines. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our speakers, Sir Edson Alijo of CHR and Ms. Yanyan Araña of FNF. Our gratitude as well to the CHR Regional Director, Atty. Aurora Luanne R. Cembrano-Ramos, and to FNF Director, Dr. Almut Besold, for the partnership extended to NEMSU, and the generosity in providing snacks for all the participants.

We also thank the NEMSU Lianga community, our Campus Director, Mdm. Catherine F. Salomon, ACD, Prof. Lo**ta M.. Martin, Ma’am Joan M. Zartiga, Ms. Jenifer Reasol, and Ms.Dina Valle, as well as all the Department Chairs, Mam Ana Pamela Bandola Bandoy, faculty members who joined and supported today’s event. Our appreciation goes as well to all students’ organizations of NEMSU Lianga Campus for their active participation and enthusiastic engagement.

KICK-OFF LAUNCHING | 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW)

NEMSU Lianga Campus proudly begins the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, an annual nationwide advocacy led by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) that intensifies awareness, strengthens protection mechanisms, and promotes safe and empowering environments for all women and girls.

Anchored on this year’s theme, “𝗨𝗡𝗶𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗩𝗔𝗪-𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀,” the campus launch was graced by Campus Director Madam Catherine F. Salomon , ACD Lo**ta M. Martin, Unit Heads, Department Chairs, Program Coordinators, Faculty, Staff, and Students, showing a united stand against all forms of violence.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗔𝗪 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻:

✔Republic Act 9710- Magna Carta of Women
✔ Republic Act 11313- Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law)
✔ Republic Act 10398 (2013)- Act Declaring November 25 of Every Year as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children

These cornerstone laws reflect the State’s unwavering commitment to protect women’s rights, eliminate gender-based violence, and foster a society where all women live with dignity, respect, and safety.

As we begin this 18-day observance, let us stand together UNiTED in advancing a VAW-Free NEMSU, a VAW-Free Community, and a VAW-Free Philippines!!!

A Proud Moment NEMSU-Lianga!

The Gender and Development (GAD) Office of North Eastern Mindanao State University- Lianga Campus proudly congratulates our student leaders, Bryan Sunga Hinoguin and Cherry Lyne Labus, both 4th Year BSED students, for their remarkable achievement in the TSL CONFAB Project Pitching Competition!

Their youth-led initiative, SKOLTURA, was selected as one of the Top 5 Projects and also received the Best Project Poster Award. 🏆🖼️

SKOLTURA champions SDG 11.4 (Safeguarding the world’s cultural and natural heritage and SDG 10 (Reducing inequalities through inclusive cultural education and empowerment).

The project focuses on uplifting and empowering the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) within our campus community, advocating for cultural preservation, inclusive development, and representation. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑🌱

We extend our sincerest gratitude to the Commission on Human Rights Caraga Region for hosting the TSL CONFAB Year 3, and to the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for their steadfast support in nurturing platforms for youth leadership and social impact.

We also acknowledge with deep appreciation the support and encouragement of our University President, Dr. Nemesio G. Loayon, our Campus Director, Madam Catherine F. Salomon, and other key officials of the university, for championing student empowerment, inclusive development, and GAD initiatives.

This achievement reflects the power of youth advocacy when backed by inclusive, gender-responsive leadership and institutional support. Together, we continue to move forward for equity, culture, and sustainable progress.

In observance of World Mental Health Awareness Month, the Gender and Development (GAD) Office of NEMSU Lianga Campus reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental health and well-being among students, faculty, and staff.

This observance serves as a vital reminder that mental health is an integral part of overall health and that fostering a supportive, understanding, and stigma-free environment is essential in achieving holistic development within the academic community.

Through its programs and initiatives, the GAD Office continues to advocate for a compassionate and inclusive campus where every individual’s mental and emotional wellness is valued and protected.

For the second time, the Gender and Development Office with the office designated coordinator took a proactive initiative in heeding the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) call for the Tertiary Student Leaders CONFAB on Human Rights through the submission of a School-Based Human Rights or Gender Project Proposal. This is another meaningful step toward empowering youth advocacy and inclusive education.
We are proud to share that the project proposal crafted by BSED 4th year students, Bryan and Cheryl, was selected as one of the Top 8 Finalists among Higher Education Institutions in the Region! This achievement is not just a win for the campus but a reflection of NEMSU Lianga’s continuing commitment to promote gender equality, human rights awareness, and transformative education.
Kudos to GADO for the initiative to join again for the second time that made this milestone possible, and to Bryan and Cheryl, you truly are the pride of NEMSU Lianga Campus!
