Sa likod ng bawat biro ay isang pangarap na pinaghirapan. Ang Fisheries Professionals Licensure Examination ay hindi lamang pagsusulit—ito ay bunga ng inyong paghahanda, tiyaga, at dedikasyon. Huminga, magtiwala sa sarili, at ibigay ang inyong best.

Malapit na ang lisensya. Kaya laban, future Registered Fisheries Professionals!

𝗜𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀 | 𝗗𝗨𝗬𝗢𝗚 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

A spirit of togetherness, leadership, and community filled the University Grounds of NEMSU-Lianga Campus as students, faculty, and organizations gathered for DUYOG 2026 on September 23, 2026.

Carrying the theme “Attending the Wrong Event,” the participants embraced the unconventional theme by coming dressed for events different from what was actually taking place, adding color and excitement to the celebration.

Meanwhile, the event featured a Fashion Show, which showcase the creativity of the students in how they bring theirselves jn the wrong outfit, as with Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (BSFi) representatives Angel Maraasin, a first-year student, and Jay D. Rivas, a fourth-year student, taking part in the showcase. Maraasin received the Star of the Night and Best Dressed awards during the event.

Aside from the fashion showcase, DUYOG 2026 also included the Induction of Club Advisers, Classroom Officers, and Club Officers, that brought together student leaders from various organizations including the League of Young Fisheries Professionals (LYFP), further highlighting the role of the league in strengthening leadership, participation, and collaboration within the university community.

The celebration concluded with students and organizations taking part in the activities, highlighting student participation, leadership, and community engagement at the campus.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗢𝗳

Sometimes, chasing a dream begins with leaving home. You leave behind what is familiar, not because you want to, but because somewhere beyond it is the future you have always hoped for.

For some students, college means more than entering a classroom. It means boarding a bus, carrying a small bag, and traveling somewhere far from the people and places they know by heart.

At first, the distance feels exciting. New faces, new places, and a new sense of independence. But eventually, homesickness finds its way in.

There are nights when the boarding house feels too quiet. Meals that do not taste like home. Calls that end with “Amping diha.” Moments when you look at your remaining allowance and wonder, “Makaabot pa kaha ni?”

Sometimes, you miss home so much, but you know you cannot simply go back.

So, you stay.

You attend class even when you are tired. You study even when you feel alone. You learn to budget, make decisions, and face problems without your family just a few steps away.

Not every day feels brave. Some days, you simply keep going.

Because behind every student studying far from home is a reason—a dream, a family, a future they are trying to build.

Maybe the road is long. Maybe the journey is difficult. But every day away from home is also a day closer to the life they dream of.

And someday, when they finally come home, they may realize that leaving was never about choosing a life away from home.

It was about going far enough to build a life they could one day bring back home.

𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀 | 𝗟𝗬𝗙𝗣 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗔, 𝗦𝗢𝗙𝗦𝗔

The League of Young Fisheries Professionals (LYFP) successfully held its 1st General Assembly and 1st State of the Fisheries Students Address (SOFSA) on September 2, 2026, bringing together fisheries students for an afternoon of updates, reflection, and renewed commitment to the organization.

The event featured the State of the Fisheries Students Address delivered by John Lloyd Penionez, highlighting the organization's accomplishments, financial statements, and key messages. It also introduced the new set of officers, followed by the turnover of the Key of Responsibility, symbolizing the transition and duties entrusted to the incoming leaders.

Moreover, the assembly presented the Mayor's Report by R-Jay Nazareno, which focused on the organization's future plans for the upcoming school year. Certificates were also awarded to recognize the contributions and participation of individuals who supported the organization's activities.

As LYFP begins another school year, may its officers and members continue to work together, serve with dedication, and strengthen the spirit of unity within the fisheries community.

𝗗𝗙𝗦 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

In promoting peace, unity, and stability, the Department of Fisheries Science actively participated in the Culmination Activity of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Month Celebration held on August 27 at the campus Ground Floor, showcasing the talents and knowledge of its students through various competitions.

The department proudly emerged as Champion in the Debate Competition through the team composed of Stephane R. Dela Victoria, Louie James T. Laborte, and Ajay A. Nasane, while Laborte also earned 3rd Place as Best Speaker for his outstanding communication and argumentation skills.

Meanwhile, Herlyn Navales also represented the department and secured 3rd Place in the Essay Writing Competition, while Kevin Jie Soroy-soroy, Danica Elefane, and Derel Jun Duma participated in the Quiz Bowl, demonstrating the department’s competence and active involvement in the celebration.

Together with the officers of the League of Young Fisheries Professionals (LYFP), the Department of Fisheries Science took part in facilitating the activity, contributing to its success while promoting camaraderie, student participation, and the values embodied by ASEAN.

More importantly, the celebration served as an opportunity to promote the spirit of ASEAN which is peace, unity, cooperation, and stability—among students and the wider university community.
