Ligao Community College (LiComCo) held its 32nd Commencement Exercises, conferring degrees upon 751 graduates at the Ligao City Gymnasium on May 14.
Carrying the theme, โClass of 2026: Values-Driven Workforce, Digitally Inclined Lifelong Learners,โ the ceremony celebrated the graduatesโ academic achievements and readiness to face the demands of a rapidly evolving world.
Commencement speaker Mrs. Mariglo L. Macabuhay-Sese, Provincial Director of TESDA Albay, emphasized that character remains the true measure of a personโs strength amid todayโs fast-changing society.
She encouraged the graduates to prove that excellence anchored on values still matters.
โCompetence will get you far, but character is what earns trust, respect, and leadership,โ she said.
The candidates for graduation were formally presented by College Registrar Mr. Michael Ringad, while College President Dr. Irene Barbero-Racho officially confirmed the graduates, marking one of the ceremonyโs most anticipated moments.
In his inspirational message, Vice Mayor Jaypee David stressed that a person is measured not only by the ability to adapt to the modern world but also by the courage to rise above setbacks and challenges.
He reminded the graduates that integrity, accountability, and empathy should guide them in their pursuits.
โSuccess requires both knowledge and character,โ he said.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Fernando V. Gonzales challenged the graduates to remain steadfast as they carry the lessons and responsibilities shaped by their academic journey.
Representing the graduating class, Geoffrey P. Requiera, a Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) program, accepted the challenge on behalf of his fellow graduates. In his response, he highlighted the importance of humility, discipline, unity, and resilience in overcoming academic and personal struggles.
โEvery challenge is not a burden but an invitation to opportunities,โ he said.
The ceremony concluded with the graduates singing the graduation songs โSaranggolaโ by Ben&Ben and โWe Made It Through,โ as they celebrated the memories and bonds formed throughout their college journey.
