Advancing research competencies, participants of the ongoing Training-Workshop on Research Capacity Building and Graduate Tracer Study Proposal Development at Ligao Community College (LiComCo) focused on sampling procedures, statistical treatment, and ethical standards in research during sessions held on June 18, 2026, at the Conference Room of the Administration Building, LiComCo Campus in Tomolin, Ligao City.

Strengthening skills in research design and methodology formed part of the second-day objectives in support of the development of a Graduate Tracer Study proposal.

Program activities included Workshop 1 on drafting research titles, problems, and objectives, followed by sessions on Sampling Procedures and Respondent Selection and Basic Statistical Treatment and Data Analysis, facilitated by Dr. Erwin E. Torres, Director of the OVPRDE-PKMD. Ethical Standards and Data Privacy in Research was handled by Dr. Richard Bartolata, Head of the Bicol University Ethics Committee.

Dr. Erwin E. Torres emphasized the importance of proper respondent selection and appropriate sampling procedures to ensure objectivity and minimize bias in research outcomes.

Meanwhile, Dr. Richard Bartolata highlighted ethical research practices, stressing the need to build trust with respondents while safeguarding their privacy and personal information.

LiComCo continues strengthening research capability among faculty members, promoting a culture of research-based academic practice within the institution and advancing initiatives for the Graduate Tracer Study proposal.

Ligao Community College (LiComCo) commenced its three-day Training-Workshop on Research Capacity Building and Graduate Tracer Study Proposal Development on Wednesday, June 17, at the Conference Room of the Administration Building, LiComCo Campus in Tomolin, Ligao City.

The training-workshop aims to enhance the research knowledge and proposal-writing skills of LiComCo faculty members and support personnel in preparation for the development of a Graduate Tracer Study proposal. The initiative is part of the institution’s continuing effort to strengthen its research culture and encourage greater engagement in scholarly activities among its employees.

Present during the opening day were Hon. Fernando V. Gonzalez, City Mayor and LiComCo Board of Trustees Chairman; Dr. Irene B. Racho, OIC-College President; and Dr. Arnulfo M. Mascariñas, LGU Consultant, along with the faculty members of the college.

The first day of the workshop featured a series of lectures conducted by Dr. Mascariñas, focusing on the fundamental concepts and processes of research in higher education. The sessions covered Introduction to Research for Higher Education, Variables, Their Measurement, and Conceptual Framework Formulation, Research Design and Methodology, Questionnaire Construction and Validation, and Writing the Research Proposal.

Furthermore, the workshop is designed to equip faculty with essential research competencies, enabling them to contribute not only to instruction but also to knowledge generation through research. The training also seeks to develop participants’ capacity to design and prepare a comprehensive Graduate Tracer Study proposal that will help assess the employment outcomes and career pathways of LiComCo graduates.

The three-day activity, scheduled from June 17 to 19, underscores the college’s commitment to advancing research as a vital component of higher education and institutional development.

Through this initiative, LiComCo continues to strengthen the professional capabilities of its workforce while fostering a culture of research, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making within the institution.

REMINDERS:

3. Be at the VENUE at least 30 minutes before the Orientation. Both parents/guardians and students must sign the attendance sheets.
4. Attendance in the Pre-Academic Year Orientation (PAYO) of STUDENTS and PARENTS/ GUARDIAN/LEGAL SPOUSE is MANDATORY and a requirement for enrollment. “'No Attendance in PAYO, No Evaluation and Enrollment' policy” shall be strictly imposed. It is understood that if a student did not attend the Orientation, he/she is not allowed to enroll in LiComCo.
5. The date and time shall be strictly followed. There shall be no other schedule for PAYO.

Interested and qualified applicants shall signify through a formal application letter addressed to the City Mayor/BOT Chairman. Applicants are also required to attach the necessary supporting documents and submit them to the Office of the College President, Ligao Community College, Tomolin, Ligao City starting June 8, 2026 to June 11, 2026 5:00 PM. or via institutional email at [email protected]

Requirements for Qualified and Interested Applicants:

✅Application Letter (addressed to Hon. Fernando V. Gonzalez, City Mayor/BOT Chairman; through Dr. Irene Barbero Racho, OIC-College President)

✅Notarized Personal Data Sheet (PDS revised 2025 with work experience sheet)

✅Photocopy of Transcript of Records and Diploma for Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctor’s Degree (please bring original copies upon application for verification purposes)

✅Certification from the College or University that the applicant is enrolled in Thesis Writing in Master’s degree.

✅Photocopy of Updated PRC License/Eligibility

✅Photocopy of PSA/NSO Birth Certificate

✅Certificate of Employment (if previously employed)

✅Copy of Performance Evaluation and Clearance (if previously employed)

Please submit three (3) sets of the abovementioned requirements in a long white folder with proper tabbing.

The Board of Trustees (BOT) of Ligao Community College (LiComCo), chaired by Ligao City Mayor Hon. Fernando V. Gonzalez, convened its 2nd Quarter Regular Meeting on June 5, 2026 at the City Mayor’s Conference Hall, New City Hall Complex, Binatagan, Ligao City.

Said meeting focused on preparations for the opening of classes for Academic Year 2026–2027, including institutional plans, programs, and operational updates of the college.

Present during the session were OIC-College President and BOT Vice Chairman Dr. Irene Barbero-Racho, LiComCo Consultant Dr. Noly Mascariñas, BOT members, and invited representatives from partner institutions and concerned agencies.

Meanwhile, the board deliberated on measures aimed at strengthening institutional programs, addressing current concerns, and ensuring readiness for the upcoming academic year.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to advancing quality education and supporting the continued growth and development of Ligao Community College in its future initiatives.
