Here is the next cut-off date for the submission of protocols to be included in the REB monthly meetings.

Please be advised that there are 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. The next application deadline is on 𝟎𝟔 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

Only 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄 applications (as verified by the UPLB REB Secretariat) 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 the monthly submission cut-off date will be accepted for review.

On 19 May 2026, the UPLB Research Ethics Board, led by 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐒. 𝐋𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐜𝐨, 𝐏𝐡𝐃 (Chair), and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐑𝐨𝐱𝐲 𝐌. 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠 (REB Coordinator) visited the UPLB College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology (CEAT) for a consultative meeting with the CEAT Ad Hoc Committee meeting on Undergraduate Research Ethics Review, led by 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐭. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚 𝐌. 𝐏𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧, 𝐃𝐫.𝐄𝐧𝐠., and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐊𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐅. 𝐘𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨, 𝐏𝐡𝐃.

The discussion focused on the practical, training, logistical, and organizational considerations in piloting an ethics review of undergraduate research involving human participants.

Earlier today, Higher Education Leadership and Mentoring (HELM) Fellows, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐉. 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐨 of Southern Leyte State University and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐆. 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞 of City College of Calamba, visited the UPLB Research Ethics Board (REB).

𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐒. 𝐋𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐜𝐨, Chair of the UPLB REB, delivered a presentation on "𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙀𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙃𝙀𝙄𝙨.” This was followed by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐑𝐨𝐱𝐲 𝐌. 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠, Coordinator of the UPLB REB, who provided an overview of the board’s structure and operational procedures.

The visit fostered meaningful knowledge exchange and strengthened collaboration in promoting ethical research practices across institutions.

On 26 January 2026, the 𝐔𝐏𝐋𝐁 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 (𝐑𝐄𝐁) held its 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 at the College of Public Affairs and Development Multi-Purpose Hall, with Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension 𝐃𝐫. 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐂. 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 delivering the opening remarks.

𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐑𝐨𝐱𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠, Coordinator of the UPLB REB, presented the Board’s accomplishments for the year 2025. Special awards and recognition were given to members in grateful appreciation of their dedication to the Board, followed by the introduction of the new set of REB officers and the announcement of panel assignments. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐒. 𝐋𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐜𝐨 of the College of Arts and Sciences and Chair of the UPLB REB then discussed the roles and responsibilities of REB members.

The UPLB REB is Co-chaired by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐲𝐞 𝐑. 𝐍𝐠𝐮𝐲𝐞𝐧-𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐚 of the College of Human Ecology.

The UPLB REB remains steadfast in upholding 𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 and 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 in all 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬.
