In celebration of the Mental Health Awareness Month, the Guidance and Counseling Unit (GCU) and the KaPeer-Yu Organization of the Laguna State Polytechnic University-Los Baños Campus (LSPU-LBC) spearheaded a webinar entitled “Conquering Anxiety Amidst Crisis and Everyday Life of Students,” Oct 30.

The event aimed to help students recognize, manage, and overcome anxiety in both challenging situations and their academic lives.

“We are here to move beyond simply acknowledging anxiety; we are here to arm you with the knowledge and skills to conquer it effectively,” Dr. Flora H. Salandanan, Office of the Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) Chairperson, said.

Dr. Jenny Lyn Casano, RPsy, RGC, Directing Manager and Owner of Psych Counseling and Health Support Services, served as the resource speaker. She discussed various types, signs and symptoms, causes, and triggers of anxiety among students, as well as the impacts of crises on mental well-being. Dr. Casano also shared how to build emotional resilience and some practical coping strategies to help students manage anxiety effectively.

Join the Guidance and Counseling Unit in collaboration with the KaPeer Yu Organization (Kaibigan Para Sa’yo) for a meaningful webinar under the CARESS Program (Career, Academic, Resiliency, Emotional, and Social Skills).

This webinar is entitled "𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙣𝙭𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝘼𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨," which will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 8am to 12nn—via Zoom and live-streamed on the Laguna State Polytechnic University - Los Baños Campus page. Participants within the Zoom platform will include 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩-𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙-𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨, while the rest of the student body may join via Facebook Live.

This event aims to empower students to understand, manage, and overcome anxiety in both crisis situations and daily life—equipping them with practical coping strategies for better well-being and academic success, which will be made possible by 𝗗𝗿. When disaster strikes, the first instinct should never be to push people back to work; it should be to make sure they are safe. 🫂

In times like these, it’s important to take a step back and remember: businesses can always recover, but the safety and wellbeing of your people must never be compromised.

True resilience isn’t about pushing through disaster or pretending everything is fine— it’s about protecting the people around you first, even if it means pausing deadlines, projects, or profits. You can pause work, but you can’t pause danger.

Because at the end of the day, deadlines can wait, profits can come back, but lives cannot. Let’s always keep in mind that in moments like this, leadership isn’t measured by how fast work gets done; it’s measured by how well you protect the people who make that work possible. ✨
