UP Bugkos UP Bugkos is the premier varsitarian organization of Bicolano students based in UPLB.

UP BUGKOS is a duly recognized organization of Bicolano students based in the University of the Philippines at Los Baños. It's objectives are to encourage academic excellence, promote social consciousness, develop leadership, provide service, serve as a venue for discussion for relevant issues and to foster true unity among Bicolanos.

Kaya ngayong 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, samahan niyo kaming buhayin ang diwa ng pag-asa sa paglunsad ng 𝘼𝙆𝙄 (𝘼𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙆𝙤 𝙄𝙣𝙞)—isang 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙜𝙣 na naglalayong maghatid ng kaalaman, pagkatuto, at inspirasyon para sa kabataan ng Bicol. 👧👦

Ang edukasyon ay isang karapatan na dapat matamasa ng bawat indibidwal. Sa bawat pahinang ating bubuksan at mga kwentong ating ibabahagi at babasahin, bitbit natin ang pangarap ng mga batang handang matuto, mangarap nang malalim, at bumuo ng kanilang sariling kinabukasan.

Noong 1903, lumabas sa lansangan ang mga manggagawa ng Pilipinas para sa unang pagkakataon at isinigaw ang karapatang mabuhay nang may dignidad. Ngayon, 123 taon na ang lumipas at nasa lansangan pa rin tayo. Hindi dahil wala tayong napagtagumpayan. Nasa lansangan pa rin tayo dahil hindi pa tapos ang laban.

Ito ang Araw ng mga Manggagawa sa gitna ng krisis sa enerhiya. Mula nang sumiklab ang digmaan sa Gitnang Silangan, tuluy-tuloy na tumaas ang presyo ng petrolyo at pinilit ang Pangulo na magdeklara ng pambansang emergency sa enerhiya noong Marso 24. Ang mga drayber ng dyipni ay gumagastos na ng mahigit ₱3,000 bawat araw sa gasolina at nag-iiwan lamang ng ₱200 hanggang ₱300 na kita pagkatapos ng isang buong araw ng pagod.

Ito ang Araw ng mga Manggagawa sa harap ng di makatarungang sahod. Ang mga manggagawa sa NCR ay kumikita lamang ng ₱695 bawat araw habang ang tinatayang sahod na pang-ikabubuhay ay umabot na sa ₱1,221 at ang bawat pagtaas ng implasyon ay lalong nagpapalawak ng agwat na ito. Ang mga kilusang manggagawa tulad ng Kilusang Mayo Uno at NAGKAISA ay nagkakaisa sa panawagan para sa ₱200 na pangkalahatang pagtaas ng sahod at sa pagtatayo ng isang tunay na pambansang sahod.

Ito ang Araw ng mga Manggagawa sa ilalim ng patuloy na kontraktwalisasyon. Dalawang katlo ng lakas-paggawa ng Pilipinas ang nagtatrabaho sa impormal na sektor nang walang seguridad sa tenyur at walang sapat na proteksyong panlipunan. Ang endo ay isang sistemang itinanim upang mapanatiling mahina ang manggagawa at patuloy na pinapalakad kahit ilegal ito sa ilalim ng Kodigo sa Paggawa.

Ito ang Araw ng mga Manggagawa habang mahigit 40,000 OFW ang natigil sa Maynila. Mga manggagawang tinatawag nating mga bagong bayani sa salita ngunit iniiwan sa kawalan ng katiyakan sa gawa. Lumayo sila para sa mas magandang kinabukasan at natuklasan na ang estadong nagpapadala sa kanila ay hindi laging handang sumalubong sa oras ng pangangailangan.

Ang paggawa ay isang karapatan. At ang karapatang ito ay patuloy na nilalaban sa gitna ng krisis, korapsyon, at kawalan ng sapat na proteksyon mula sa estado.

Ngayong Unang Araw ng Mayo, huwag tayong makuntento sa pagkilala lamang. Ang tunay na pagkilala sa manggagawa ay nakasalalay sa makatarungang sahod, seguridad sa tenyur, at isang gobyernong handang tumanggap ng pananagutan sa harap ng mga pagsubok na kinakaharap ng bawat anakpawis ngayon.

Mabuhay ang uring manggagawa! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
