The ๐—จ๐—ฃ๐—Ÿ๐—• ๐—ข๐—ฏ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎ ๐—™. ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—›๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น (OFSH) was a gift from the Ford Rockefeller Foundation was established in 1971 through the Farm and Home Development Program of the then UP College of Agriculture headed by Dr. Basilio N. Originally named as the Continuing Education Center (CEC), it was designed and built by the renowned National Artist for Architecture, Leandro V. Since education is a life-

long process, the then CEC was envisioned to house the farmers and homemakers who desire to acquire continuous knowledge and application through non-formal education which could be aptly met in UP. The center was headed by a manager who was a seconded staff of the University. However, CEC's thrust changes through time. In the 1980โ€™s it has become the venue for local and international training programs to various organizations like the EDI-World Bank, the American Home Economics Association, the Local Government Units (LGUs) and MADECOR, to name a few. In the early 1990โ€™s CEC became a popular venue for the US PEACE CORPS, private chemical and agricultural companies and many others including government and non-government organizations. On 24 November 24 2011, during the 1275th Board of Regents Meeting, CEC was officially renamed as the Obdulia F. It was formerly managed by the Business Affairs Office (BAO) and its operational supervision was transferred to UPLB Housing Office (UHO) on 3 November 2020 through Administrative Order Number 319 series of 2020.

Safe S.P.A.C.E. UPLB successfully conducted an Orientation Meeting for its members and newly appointed unit representatives on 25 February 2026.

The orientation highlighted the vital role of unit representatives as the focal point persons of their respective units and colleges as well as discussions on what gender-responsive programs, projects and activities could be done aligned with the mandate of UPLB-GC.

The Safe SPACE UPLB is a program of the UPLB Gender Center in collaboration with units under the supervision of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs. The program is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment at UPLBโ€”whether physical, virtual, or otherwise. It aims to eliminate discrimination, harassment, criticism, and any form of emotional or physical harm. By fostering a culture of respect and protection, the Safe SPACE UPLB Program ensures that every member of the UPLB community thrives in a Secure, Proactive, and Caring Environment.
