UPLB Com Arts Society (Official) The official academic organization for Communication Arts students in UPLB ComArtSoc was founded on July 15, 1976, by Darlene Dimaano. BASTA COMARTSOC, PASOK!

The organization was formed with the following objectives in mind:
1. To serve as the official organization of Communication Arts students
2. To provide practical training experience in writing, speech communication, and theater arts through seminars and workshops;
3. To encourage appreciation of the arts and the humanities through participation in socio-cultural activities;
4. To promote academic

excellence; and
5. To maximize participation in other fields. The organization continues to uphold its objectives and ideals through activities that not only serve Communication Arts students but also those who are interested in the field. The organization holds symposiums, workshops, theater productions and also participates in inter-org activities such as debates and fundraisers. Internally, the organization also holds workshops and other training opportunities to develop members who are excellent in both their academics and their extra-curricular activities.

The UPLB ComArtsSoc aims to cultivate the human perception towards arts and humanities and provide outlets for the artistic talents of members, focusing on the three aspects of the specialization of the Communication Arts program: Writing, Speech Communication, and Theatre Arts.

You have always had this warmth that naturally draws people in — maybe it’s your contagious smile, the way you always show up, or simply the care you give so effortlessly to everyone around you. Everyone sees how passionate you are, may it be on stage, in front of house, or in the dressing room, but only some know the sacrifices you need to make just to balance everything. Despite everything, you never fail to show up when you're needed!

Sa darating na USC-CSC Elections, ipinapahayag ng UPLB Com Arts Society ang buong suporta kay Angela Marie Vardeleon sa kanyang pagtakbo bilang CAS Student Council Vice Chairperson sa ilalim ng SAKBAYAN | Samahan ng Kabataan para sa Bayan | UPLB. Kinakatawan ni AM ang isang malinaw at militanteng adyenda sa sangkaestudyantehan sa pamamagitan ng pagsusulong ng mga karapatan at kapakanan ng mga student-artist, ang pagtutol sa komersyalisasyon ng sining at mga proyektong pangkultura, at ang paninindigan para sa sapat na pondo, espasyo, at makatarungang kondisyon sa loob ng pamantasan.

Ang kanyang kandidatura ay hindi hiwalay sa konkretong karanasan ng pakikibaka. Bilang isang student-artist, tangan niya ang tunay na boses ng komunidad na hinubog ng mismong mga kontradiksyon at pakikibaka sa loob at labas ng unibersidad. Saksi ang organisasyon sa kanyang tuloy-tuloy na pakikibahagi sa mga pagkilos at kolektibong paninindigan sa lansangan at hanay ng masa. Kaya naman buo ang aming kumpiyansa na kanyang isusulong ang isang konsehong tunay na kumakatawan, naninindigan, at kumikilos para sa interes ng sangkaestudyantehan!

MANUNULAT NG BAYAN, MAG-ULAT AT MAKIBAKA!

Sa isang demokratikong lipunan, ang malayang pamamahayag ay hindi lamang pundasyon ng katotohanan kundi ng buhay at karapatan.

Batay sa ulat ng Reporters Without Borders’ (RSF), bahagyang umangat ang bahagdan ng Pilipinas sa World Press Freedom Index na kasalukuyang nasa ika-114 (dati’y ika-116) mula sa tinatayang 180 mga bansa. Sa kabila nito, nananatiling laganap ang iba’t ibang porma ng panunupil ng estado sa hanay ng mga peryodista’t mamamahayag na, ayon sa datos ng National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, ay umabot na sa 242 na kaso sa ilalim ng Administrasyong Marcos-Duterte.

Nakakaramdam din ng panggigipit at pandarahas ang mga mamamahayag at kampus na pahayagan. Tinatayang anim mula sa siyam na mga kolehiyo sa UPLB ang walang sariling college publications. Nararanasan din ng iba’t iba pang pahayagan sa loob ng pamantasan, katulad na lamang ng UPLB Perspective, Tanglaw at The Staple, ang kakulangan ng pondo, limitadong suporta, at red-tagging.

Nanatili rin na mapaniil at mapandahas ang estado sa mga miyembro ng alternatibong pahayagan. Sa kasalukuyan, higit anim na taon nang nakapiit ang community journalist at dating punong-patnugot ng UP Vista na si Frenchie Mae Cumpio, sa mga gawa-gawang kaso ng financing terrorism. Noong nagdaan na April 19, 2026 ay walang habas ding pinatay ng mga elemento ng militar si RJ Nichole Ledesma, regional coordinator ng Altermidya Network na kabilang sa binansagang Toboso 19.

Naninindigan ang UPLB Com Arts Society na ang tahasang pag-atake sa mga peryodista, mamamahayag, at publikasyon ay isang banta sa buhay at karapatan ng bawat mamamayan tungo sa makamasang diskurso. Kasabay nito ang pagbitbit ng organisasyon sa mga panawagan para sa institusyonal na pagkilala sa mga kampus pahayagan, pagbasura sa anumang porma ng pananakot at pandadahas, at ang maigting na paghingi ng katarungan para sa lahat ng mamamahayag na ipiniit at kinitlan ng buhay dahil sa pagtupad ng kanilang tungkulin.

Kasama ang UPLB Com Arts Society sa laban ng bawat mamamahayag, peryodista, manunulat, at publikasyon na siyang susi sa matatatag na demokrasya sa ating bansa dahil ang bawat panulat na tumitindig kaisa ng masa ay ulat na tumitindig para sa pakikibaka tungo sa isang lipunang makatarungan at mapagpalaya.
