The Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Season 5 National Competition, organized by the Department of Agriculture, brought together the country's most promising youth-led agribusiness ventures in Iloilo City from April 20-24, 2026. The event served as a platform for young entrepreneurs to present innovative, sustainable, and scalable solutions for the Philippine agricultural sector.
We are proud to share that SQOODLES (Squash Noodles), developed by Louise Gabrielle Q. Perez and Maria Regina M. Madamba, representing the University of the Philippines Los Baños and CALABARZON Region IV-A, was named as the Champion in the Intercollegiate Category, receiving Php 500,000 in grant funding. The venture exemplifies how product innovation can be aligned with farmer support and value chain development.
Other outstanding winners also demonstrated exceptional innovation and enterprise. Arteza Chocolate (Filipino Chocolate Truffles), developed by Jana Andrea H. Urriza and Beatrice Rheezette T. Abelieto, was awarded under the Start-Up Component - Food Processing Category and received Php 300,000 in grant funding.
