Welcome to the official page of the UP Ranchers' Club — the oldest socio-civic organization of UPLB established in 1922, proudly heralding a century of excellence in rodeo, community service, and academics. Our primary aims are to create and nurture the interest in the field of animal science and related disciplines; to instill and enhance the spirit of leadership, academic excellence and love of school; and to establish and sustain ties and bonds of brotherhood among us.

We celebrate our April cowgirls, whose month came with blazing skies, suspended classes, and roads made quieter as many drivers stood their ground in protest. Through the pauses, detours, and rising heat, you kept your spirit steady and your boots moving forward. 🎊

Some months test patience more than plans; this was one of them. Yet even when routines were interrupted and the sun bore down hard, you reminded us that passion can still bloom in difficulty. Like true Ranchers, you found ways to adapt and keep your head high through it all. 🫡

May this new chapter bring the kind of strength and courage to face uncertain roads, and the wisdom to know when to rest and when to ride on. May your days be kinder, your dreams closer, and your victories deeply earned. 💫

The UP Ranchers’ Club introduces you to its newest trivia series known as the 𝗩𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀! Be it about facts related to farming, animal management, gastronomy, food science, history, haciendero life, etc. Get indulged with random knowledge as we continue to create and nurture the interest in the field of Animal Science and related disciplines.

𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖?

𝘽𝙤𝙨 𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙪𝙨 (European cattle) and 𝘽𝙤𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙨 (Zebu or Tropical cattle) not only differ in terms of their physical appearance and climate adaptation. European-derived cattle are generally considered to have a tastier flavour profile due a physiological process known as marbling, making such beef best for premium steaks and culinary purposes.
Marbling refers to the development and accumulation of fat within the muscles (i.e., intramuscular fat) which translates to greater tenderness and juiciness of beef. The muscles of Bos ta**us have smaller fibre sizes too, contributing to such quality.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined the UP Ranchers’ Club Orientation and took the time to get to know the herd. Whether you decided to ride with us or simply stopped by to learn more, we hope you enjoyed the night (+ the dinner that had a kick to it 🥵) and had fun seeing the glimpse of the Rancher life. 🤠
