The UP Sigma Alpha Sorority - Los Baños Chapter proudly 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 to 𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗜-𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗨𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗸𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗮 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗮 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗮 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗶𝘆𝗮 held last May 7, 2026.

Through collective efforts and shared commitment, the initiative successfully purchased 500 vegetable packs—297 packs are distributed for Buy-It-Forward, while 203 packs are disseminated for Buy-For-Family. Beyond providing food assistance, this initiative strengthened support for our local farming communities and reinforced our continued advocacy for farmers’ welfare and food security.

Driven by our commitment to service, the sorority continues to foster meaningful partnerships and collaborations that create lasting impact for the community. In every initiative, we strive to embody salience through uplifting communities and offering our means in service of the people. 🌾✨

Isang taos-pusong pasasalamat sa mga nakipag-Agri-Bayanihan! ✨🌾

Nakabili tayo ng mahigit isang toneladang gulay mula sa mga magsasaka sa Majayjay, Liliw, at Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Mula rito, nakabuo tayo ng 500 vegetable packs—297 packs ang naipamahagi sa pamamagitan ng Buy-It-Forward, habang 203 packs naman ang binili para sa pamilya (Buy-For-Family).

Ang tagumpay na ito naging posible dahil sa suporta, tiwala, at pakikipagbayanihan ng ating mga partner mula sa Provincial Government of Laguna, gayundin ng aming mga katuwang mula sa Institute of Plant Breeding, Resource Generation Administrative Section (RGAS)-BAO, mga estudyante mula sa iba’t ibang student organizations, at iba pang mga indibidwal.

Maraming salamat sa inyong panahon, malasakit, at pagbibigay-lakas upang maisakatuparan ang adhikaing masuportahan ang ating mga magsasaka at komunidad.

Ang Agri-Bayanihan ay patunay na kapag sama-sama, may pag-asa. 🌱

Our spaghetti has bawang sibuyas made with tender love and care, but wait there’s more👏🏻, fresh juice made with real crystal clear water mixed 3 times for another episode of 𝐓𝐫𝐄𝐀𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬🧚 concocted✨ by yours truly, 𝙎𝙞𝙜𝙢𝙖 𝘼𝙡𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙨.

And with that, the 𝐔𝐏𝐋𝐁 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐚 𝐀𝐥𝐩𝐡𝐚 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲🌸 would like to thank 𝐒𝐢𝐬 𝐅𝐞 for helping us create this wonderfulicous dish and to 𝐒𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 for helping quench the thirst! 🍹

Bilang tugon ng UPLB sa pandaigdigang krisis sa enerhiya at pagkain, tayo ay magsama-sama upang paigtingin ang diwa ng bayanihan sa ating komunidad.

Sa unang salang ng Agri-Bayanihan, mayroong 500 packs ng 2kg chopsuey vegetables mula sa mga magsasaka ng Nagcarlan, Laguna. Maaari itong bilhin para sa inyong pamilya (Buy-for-Family) o ipamahagi sa napiling grupo ng Batch 1 beneficiaries (Buy-it-Forward).

Kapag sama-sama, ang munting akto ng kabayanihan ay mararamdaman ng sambayanan.

The UP Sigma Alpha Sorority - Los Baños Chapter proudly supports our Resident Sister Rochelle Ann Macatangay in this year's UPLB USC Elections 2026 as SAKBAYAN USC Councilor.

Sis Roch exemplifies a kind of leadership rooted in initiative, discipline, and genuine service. In her work under the Socio-Cultural Committee, she has consistently demonstrated creativity and excellence, producing impactful publications that resonate within and beyond our community. She shows up, not just on time but always ahead, ready to contribute, listen, and lead. Her presence in meetings reflects discipline, while her actions reflect a sincere and unwavering care for the people she serves.

Beyond consistency, what defines Sis Roch is her deep sense of social responsibility. She has been actively involved in our Weekly Open Pantry initiatives, not only participating but also advancing thoughtful expansions such as outreach efforts for jeepney drivers during the transport strike, which she helps bring to life through concrete action herself. She has taken on leadership roles, including co-heading our FebFair activity, and she continues to embrace every task with humility, diligence, and determination. As a member of the DOST Scholar's Society and a BS Applied Physics student, she offers a perspective grounded in science, service, and social awareness, steadfast in championing the welfare of women, children, students, and the masses.

Her newness to the university is not a limitation, but rather, it is a strength. It sharpens her perspective, compels her to question, and drives her to innovate and serve without complacency. Sis Roch embodies a form of leadership that is learning-driven, people-centered, and firmly anchored in action.

Your sorority sisters believe in your unwavering passion to serve and lead not only the UPLB student body but the nation and the masses as a whole.

Nakikiisa ang UP Sigma Alpha Sorority – Los Baños Chapter sa paggunita ng World Press Freedom Day sa ilalim ng temang “Shaping a Future at Peace: Promoting Press Freedom for Human Rights, Development, and Security.” Mariin naming iginiit: hindi kapayapaan ang katahimikan na ipinapataw sa pamamagitan ng baril at pananakot. Walang tunay na seguridad kung ang katotohanan ay sinisikil, at walang kaunlaran kung ang mga naglalantad ng pang-aabuso ay tinutugis.

Sa Pilipinas, patuloy na naitatala ang seryosong banta sa kalayaan sa pamamahayag. Ayon sa mga ulat ng iba’t ibang human rights at press freedom organizations sa mga nakalipas na taon, kabilang dito ang mga kaso ng pagpaslang sa mga mamamahayag, lalo na sa mga probinsya kung saan mas malakas ang presensya ng militar at umiiral ang tunggalian sa lupa. Kasabay nito ang red-tagging, surveillance, at paggamit ng mga kasong kriminal na madalas itinuturing bilang anyo ng harassment laban sa mga kritikal na boses.

Sa mga lugar tulad ng Negros, kung saan naitala ang mga operasyong militar na nagresulta sa pagkasawi ng mga sibilyan, hindi ito hiwalay na pangyayari kundi bahagi ng matagal nang naitatala at paulit-ulit na ulat ng karahasan sa kanayunan na kaugnay ng militarisasyon. Sa ganitong mga konteksto, ang pagbabalita at dokumentasyon ng midya at mga komunidad ay nagsisilbing mahalagang daluyan ng katotohanan, ngunit kaakibat nito ang mas mataas na panganib at banta.

Ang ganitong kalagayan ay hindi rin hiwalay sa mas malawak na istruktura ng lipunan kung saan umiiral ang hindi pantay na kapangyarihan at kontrol sa mga institusyon. Sa ganitong sistema, ang midyang kritikal ay madalas na napapailalim sa presyon at panunupil, habang ang mga ugat ng mga isyung panlipunan ay nananatiling hindi ganap na natutugunan.

Hindi sapat ang paggunita—kailangan ang patuloy na paniningil at kolektibong pagkilos.

Mayo Uno ng taong 1903 unang nagtungo ang mga Pilipino upang magprotesta laban sa mga isyu sa iba’t ibang trabaho at pasahod sa manggagawang Pilipino sa ilalim ng pananakop ng mga Amerikano. Ngayong lampas isang daang taon na ang nakalipas, hindi pa rin nawala ang isyung ito at tila nadagdagan pa.

Mula sa mababang sahod at mataas na presyo ng bilihin, ilan pa sa mga isyung patuloy na kinahaharap ng sektor ng manggagawa ay ang kakulangan sa trabaho, kontraktwalisasyon, eksploytasyon, at ang hindi pagkakaroon ng kalayaan upang magbuo ng unyon.

Sa paggunita natin ngayon ng Araw ng mga Manggagawang Pilipino, magsilbi nawa itong paalala sa atin ng isang laban na higit isang daang taon na ang itinagal. Kinikilala natin na bitbit ng lakas-manggagawa ang pagpapatakbo ng ekonomiya ng bansa at kasama tayo sa pagtindig at paghiyaw ng mga daing at pagtanggol sa karapatan.

Kaisa ang UP Sigma Alpha Sorority - Los Baños Chapter ng hukbo ng Pilipinong manggagawa sa laban kontra sa mga isyung nakadadagdag ng bigat sa pagbuhat sa ekonomiya ng bansa. Isang taas-kamaong pagpupugay para sa mga manggagawang Pilipino!
