We have rescheduled our second intensive beekeeping training from May 19-23 to 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟓-𝟗, to accommodate fieldwork schedules and make sure everyone gets the best learning experience possible.

The UPLB Bee Program proudly joins the celebration of 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏’𝒔 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉, where our Researcher-Entomologist Ms Jessica Baroga-Barbecho, shared her insights on women leading community-based beekeeping initiatives at DA - Bureau of Agricultural Research on March 26, 2026.

Ms Baroga-Barbecho highlighted how empowered women are shaping sustainable livelihoods and uplifting communities (i.e., Maliwaliw, Bataan, Mindoro, and Lanao del Norte).

Just like in every hive, every role matters = just as every woman’s contribution counts 🐝💜

: DA-BAR hosted 36 senior citizen members of the Philippine Society for Elders Promoting Wellness and Sustainable Development, Inc. in Diliman, Quezon City on March 26, 2026 for a beekeeping seminar that highlights women’s role in agricultural development.

First engagement of 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ and what a meaningful way to begin. 🐝💪

We kicked off the year with our partners from Olongapo LGU, Institutions (i.e., DTI, DOST, and Provincial Agricultural Office) and the IP communities of Old Cabalen.

Stingless bees were introduced to the communities as an additional livelihood opportunity. Partners and beneficiaries learned about the biology of giant honey bees (locally known as “pukyutan or putyukan”) and stingless bees (“lukut/kiwot/duyaw”), proper management practices, and potential pathways for future collaBEEration and engagement.
