🎶 What if the songs we listen to are shaping the communities we belong to?

Across ASEAN, music has always carried more than melody—the gongs, bamboo instruments, songs and shared rhythms echo throughout the region, connecting people long before any treaty did. When we hear ourselves in each other's music, something shifts: we stop being separate audiences and start becoming community.

Philippine language and culture course launch in Venice Sept 2026

Expanding the study and teaching of Philippine language and culture in Italy
Associate Professor Jayson D. Petras, a regular faculty member of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Education (FEd) is currently a Visiting Professor at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Italy.
On 16 September 2026, he will serve as the resource person during the launch of Introduction to Philippine Languages and Culture, the course he will be teaching that is embedded within the Southeast Asian Studies curriculum of the B.A. programme in Languages, Cultures, and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa (LICSAAM).
Associate Professor Petras' engagement is under the project of the Philippine Consulate General in Milan and Philippine Honorary Consulate in Venice, which will promote greater awareness of the Philippines through language and culture teaching.

A project we have been working on for many years is finally becoming a reality. Our goal, as Honorary Consulate, has always been to promote greater awareness of the Philippines, home to one of the most diverse and distinctive cultures in Asia, yet still relatively little known compared to its neighboring countries. Today, we are proud and honored to see Philippine Language and Culture represented at Ca’ Foscari University. 🇵🇭🙏🎓
