The Student Council's Principles and Objectives

The College of Administration, Business, Hospitality, and Accountancy Student Council is a nonsectarian and political in nature and must endeavor to unite all students for better understanding and harmonious relationships among ourselves. This Council is the highest governing and policy-making body of the College of Administration, Business, Hospitality, and Accountancy Student body and must have a degree of autonomy. The welfare of the students are the primary concern of this Student Council and in the accomplishment of this purpose, all students must be encouraged in the promotion of social, cultural, intellectual, moral, spiritual, and other development activities. The Student Council will uphold and protect the rights of the students and ensure its participation in the determination and governance of the different policy-making bodies of the university, which may directly affect the student body and uphold the ideals and tenets of democracy.

Behind every lesson we learn and every student who continues to believe in themselves, there are teachers who chose to guide and believe in us.

Today, as we celebrate World Teachersโ€™ Day, we want to take a moment to say something that we may not always say enough: Thank you, dear teachers.

Thank you for patiently explaining lessons even when we do not understand them the first time. Thank you for answering our questions, checking our work, reminding us when we make mistakes, and encouraging us when we feel like giving up. Sometimes, we only see the lesson written on the board, but behind every lesson is your dedication.

There are also moments when a simple โ€œKaya niyo โ€˜yan,โ€ โ€œMadali lang โ€˜yan,โ€ or even a smile from a teacher can make a student feel that they are not alone. We may not remember every single topic discussed in class but we will remember the teachers who made us feel seen and capable.

We know that teaching is not always easy. You also have your own problems, tired days, deadlines, and responsibilities, but you still show up and continue to teach us. That is something we deeply appreciate. You do more than teach subjects. You teach us how to be responsible and better human beings.

To all of our teachers, thank you for believing in our potential even when we sometimes doubt ourselves. Thank you for being part of our college life and for helping us become the people we are slowly becoming.

Ang kolehiyo ay hindi lamang lugar kung saan inihahanda ang mga estudyante para sa โ€œtunay na mundo.โ€ Dito rin hinuhubog ang kanilang kritikal na pag-iisip, kamalayan, at paninindigan bilang mga mamamayan. Ngunit kung ang isang estudyante ay nagpapahayag ng adbokasiya at naninindigan sa isang isyung panlipunan, bakit tila ang unang tugon ay ang pagtutol at pagpapatahimik?

Ang pagpapahayag ng paninindigan ng mga Campus Press ay hindi dapat ikondena dahil lamang hindi ito naaayon sa pananaw ng iba. Naninindigan ang Konseho na ang ating pamantasan ay dapat maging ligtas, malaya, at inklusibong espasyo para sa bawat estudyanteng nagnanais maglahad ng kaniyang pananaw, saloobin, at paninindigan. Ang pamantasan ay dapat maging tahanan ng malayang pag-iisip, hindi lugar kung saan ang takot ang pumipigil sa kabataan na magsalita.

Kinikilala at pinangangalagaan ng Saligang Batas ang karapatan sa malayang pamamahayag sa ilalim ng Article III, Section 4 ng 1987 Constitution. Ang pagpapahayag ng saloobin hinggil sa mga usaping panlipunan ay hindi pribilehiyong nakalaan lamang sa iilan. Karapatan ito ng bawat mamamayanโ€”kabilang ang mga kabataan at mga estudyante. Ang campus journalism, higit sa pagiging daluyan ng impormasyon, ay nagsisilbing mahalagang bahagi ng demokratikong buhay sa loob ng pamantasan.

Sa panahong ang pamamahayag ay humaharap sa ibaโ€™t ibang anyo ng panggigipit at pagpapatahimik, ang tapang ng mga kabataang patuloy na nagsusulat, nagtatanong, nagsasaliksik, at naninindigan ay isang bagay na dapat kilalanin at pahalagahan. Ang pagtutol sa isang pananaw ay hindi dapat mauwi sa pagtatangkang patahimikin ang mismong karapatang magpahayag.

Ang pagiging estudyante ay hindi lamang tungkol sa pag-aaral ng mga konsepto sa loob ng silid-aralan. Bahagi rin ng edukasyon ang pag-unawa sa lipunang ating ginagalawanโ€”ang pagtatanong sa mga umiiral na kalagayan, pagtalakay sa mga isyung may epekto sa komunidad, at pagkakaroon ng lakas ng loob na magpahayag ng makabuluhang paninindigan.
Kapag itinatanim natin ang takot sa isip ng kabataan sa tuwing sila ay nagsasalita, hindi kritikal na mamamayan ang ating hinuhubog kundi isang henerasyong natututong manahimik kahit may dapat itanong, punahin, o ipaglaban.

Mariing naninindigan ang Konseho na ang Campus Press ay hindi lamang tagapaghatid ng impormasyon. Bahagi ito ng buhay-estudyante at mahalagang institusyon sa paghubog ng isang pamayanang marunong magtanong, magsuri, makialam, at makilahok. Ang malayang pamamahayag sa loob ng pamantasan ay hindi banta sa edukasyonโ€”ito ay bahagi nito.

Ang pamantasang naghuhubog ng mga estudyanteng may talino, disiplina, at malasakit sa lipunan ay dapat maglaan ng espasyo para sa malayang pag-iisip at pagpapahayag. Walang lugar ang takot, pananakot, at pagpapatahimik sa isang institusyong nagsasabing hinuhubog nito ang mga kabataan para sa lipunan.
