Throughout the years we have seen and also received reports of animal cruelty and abandonment that has seemingly became commonplace in the community.
-Once beloved pets left on the side of the road because they could no longer care for them.
-Puppies or kittens in boxes or trash bags thrown out like taking out garbage because of an unwanted pregnancy of their pet dog or cat.
These and many more inhumane treatment towards animals is deemed UNLAWFUL by ๐.๐. ๐๐๐๐ otherwise known as the ๐๐ง๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐ as amended by ๐.๐. ๐๐๐๐๐.
Persons found guilty of violating this law is punishable by imprisonment of 6 months up to 3 years and/or fines of P30,000 up to P250,000 depending on the condition of the animal, who the offender/s is/are and their conviction by final judgement.
In light of this, we encourage the public to be responsible pet owners, to spay (female)/ neuter (male) their pets (to control pet population and as pets are proven to become healthier after the operation), and support programs like Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (CNVR) of NGOs and LGUs.
By doing this, you not only ensure the health and safety of your pets and the community. You are also helping us avoid these heartbreaking situations for these innocent creatures.
