Apayao State College (ASC) continues its rise in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), moving up to 166th place this year from 221st in 2025 and 284th in 2024.

The new ranking places ASC alongside well-known institutions, including the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, showing its growing presence in the global field of innovation.

WURI ranks universities based on their academic outputs and their ability to transform ideas into practical solutions that help people and communities.

ASC’s improved standing reflects its ongoing efforts to develop programs that respond to the communities it serves and expand its impact across different sectors.

ANNOUNCEMENT |

Pursuant to Memorandum OP No. 12 , s. 2026, in view of the prevailing extreme hot weather conditions, with temperatures reaching uncomfortable and potentially health-risk levels during daytime hours, particularly in the campus and surrounding areas, the wearing of prescribed uniforms is hereby temporarily suspended effective April 15, 2026.

This measure is issued to ensure the well-being and comfort of the ASC community amid intensified heat conditions commonly experienced during the dry season.

Students are directed to wear decent, modest, and appropriate civilian attire in accordance with the provisions of the Student Manual, ensuring proper decorum suitable for an academic environment.

Moreover, faculty members and non-teaching personnel shall observe proper office attire in accordance with Civil Service Commission (CSC) rules and existing institutional dress code policies.

ASC Reaffirms Quality Excellence, Retains ISO 9001:2015 Certification

Apayao State College (ASC) has successfully retained its ISO 9001:2015 certification after completing its recertification audit, maintaining its compliance with international quality management standards.

The audit was led by Team Leader Jonathan Nery, with Co-Auditors Jenny Barachina, Maria Gwendolyn Red, Reynalyn Caudilla, and Catherine Sigua. The evaluation covered the College’s Quality Management System (QMS), including Instruction, Research, Extension, and Support Services, focusing on how processes are implemented and documented across offices.

ASC President John N. Cabansag expressed his appreciation to the audit team, as well as to the faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders whose consistent work and cooperation supported the result.

He also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to uphold ISO principles, pledging to fully implement audit recommendations within the required timelines. This includes addressing non-conformities through corrective actions, strengthening internal audit systems and training programs, and further embedding a culture of proactive quality assurance. He likewise emphasized ASC’s direction toward higher standards through sustainability initiatives and digital transformation within its quality framework for the benefit of learners and communities.

Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, Vice President for Academics, Research, Development and Extension Services (VP ARDES) likewise called on the academic community to continue working together to uphold standards, improve institutional processes, and foster a culture of excellence in all areas of service.

The certification stands, not as an endpoint, but as a responsibility, sustained through shared accountability, and work that holds even beyond the audit.
