My Dear SKSU Family,
As we gather today to receive once again the ISO 9001:2015 Certification of Sultan Kudarat State University, my heart is filled with gratitude, humility, and deep emotion.
There is something I wish to confess before all of you.
When I aspired for the Presidency of Sultan Kudarat State University, I made a personal promiseโnot only to myself but to every stakeholder of this institution. One of those promises was to restore the ISO Certification of our University after it expired in May 2022 before I was elected as SKSU President. When I came in, many challenges confronted us. Resources were limited, priorities competed for attention, and there were moments when the journey seemed difficult and uncertain.
Yet I firmly believed that quality is not a document, a certificate, or a logo displayed on a wall. Quality is a culture. Quality is a commitment. Quality is the character of an institution.
Today, as I stand before you, nearing the final days of my term as University President, I can say with profound gratitude that this promise has been fulfilled, Alhamdulillah!
This certificate is not mine.
It belongs to every faculty members who embraced change even when it was uncomfortable.
It belongs to every non-teaching personnel who painstakingly prepared records and complied with standards.
It belongs to our PCs, Deans/Directors, Campus Directors, Vice Presidents, and Quality Assurance Teams who sacrificed countless hours and days to make this possible.
Most importantly, it belongs to our students, because they deserve a university governed by excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
I wanted this certification restored before the end of my term because I never wanted future generations to say that we became complacent, that we abandoned the culture of quality entrusted to us, or that we allowed the gains of the past to fade away.
Rather, I wanted the next leadership to inherit a university standing on solid groundโa university that values systems over personalities, excellence over convenience, and service over self-interest.
As I prepare to leave my post, I have only one lingering concern: I may soon become a client of HRMDO Director. So, to our HR colleagues, please remind me how many working days ISO allows for processing a fallback appointment!
But seriously, I do not wish to be remembered for buildings constructed, programs launched, or titles held. Those things will eventually fade with time.
But if there is one legacy I pray will remain, it is this: that we strengthened the culture of quality, accountability, and integrity in Sultan Kudarat State University.
This ISO Certification is therefore more than an achievement.
For me, it is a fulfilled promise.
It is a symbol of collective sacrifice.
It is a testament that when a community works together with one vision and one purpose, no challenge is impossible.
Before I conclude, allow me to leave you with three questionsโnot for today alone, but for the future of our beloved University:
First: When the applause has faded and this certificate is displayed on our walls, will quality remain merely a certificate, or will it continue to be reflected in our daily actions, decisions, and service to our students and stakeholders?
Second: As we move forward, will we be satisfied with maintaining standards, or will we continuously strive for greater excellence, innovation, accountability, and integrity in everything we do?
Third: Long after our positions, offices, and titles have passed, what legacy will each of us leave behindโand will future generations say that we merely possessed an ISO certificate, or that we truly lived a culture of quality and excellence?
My dear SKSU Family, certificates may expire, terms of office may end, and leaders may come and go. But genuine quality is not found in a framed documentโit is found in the hearts, minds, and actions of people committed to excellence every single day.
Thank you for helping fulfill one of the most meaningful promises of my presidency.
May Allah continue to bless Sultan Kudarat State University, its people, and all those who will carry this torch of quality long after we have passed it on.
Maraming salamat. Mabuhay ang SKSU. Mabuhay tayong lahat.
