BRIEF HISTORY OF PHILIPPINE ROTC

In 1862,ROTC was established in the United States as a college elective focusing on military training and discipline.Many countries that were connected with the United States then followed the same program including the Republic of the Philippines.On the brink of World War II in the year 1912,the Americans established the first Philippine ROTC unit in the University of the Philippines even after the country gained its independence,the ROTC program remained a college elective for all Filipino students.

On 180700 October 2026, the City of Malabon University ROTC Unit, under the leadership of COL ALVIN S. ASPIRAS ART (GSC) PA, Commandant, conducted its 9th Training Day for MS-1 cadets at CMU, Brgy. Longos, Malabon City.

The training featured lectures on Philippine Military History, AFP Mandate, Mission, Functions, and Organization, and Hygiene and Sanitation to enhance the cadetsโ€™ military knowledge, discipline, and personal wellness.

The activity concluded at 1200H without any untoward incident.

GROOMING STANDARDS:

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

- Be at the training venue on time.

On 11 October 2026, the City of Malabon University ROTC Unit, under the leadership of COL ALVIN S ASPIRAS ART (GSC) PA, Commandant, conducted its 8th Training Day for Military Science 1 (MS-1) cadets at Barangay Longos, Malabon City.

The training focused on basic facing movements, drills, and ceremonies to enhance the cadetsโ€™ discipline, coordination, teamwork, and military bearing.

Through continuous training and practice, the cadets develop the discipline, confidence, and sense of responsibility expected of future reservists and patriotic Filipino citizens.

The training featured Drills and Ceremonies, Followership 1, and IED Awareness, equipping cadets with essential knowledge, discipline, and skills necessary for effective military service.

Through Followership 1, cadets were reminded that effective leadership begins with effective followershipโ€”understanding the chain of command, exercising initiative, maintaining discipline, and contributing to mission accomplishment.

The IED Awareness lecture likewise strengthened the cadetsโ€™ vigilance by introducing the different types and characteristics of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), emphasizing awareness and safety in potentially hazardous situations.
