SNSU UNDERGOES AACCUP ACCREDITATION, BSMB FOR LEVEL II

On August 15-19, various programs across Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) campuses underwent AACCUP (Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc.) accreditation. For the Malimono campus, the Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology (BSMB) Program was examined for Level II.

The team of accreditors for the Malimono campus was headed by Prof. Rosalinda P. Shariff of Mindanao State University – Tawi-tawi College of Technology and Oceanography. Members of the team were Dr. Pedro M. Avenido of Southern Philippines Agri-business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology and Prof. Mardely B. Barrogo, RL, MLis of Aurora State College of Technology, Baler, Aurora.

In her commitment message, Dr. Leonielyn G. Malicay, the Malimono Campus Director, articulated the institution’s willingness to comply with the needed documents in preparation for the next level of accreditation.

MALIMONO CAMPUS SUBMITS TO A QUALITY INTERNAL AUDIT

Surigao Del Norte State University – Malimono Campus (SNSU-Malimono) underwent an in-person Internal Audit for ISO 9001: 2015 on September 27 – 29, 2022. This is the 7th Internal Quality Audit and the first on-site since 2019.

The said internal audit, as reiterated by Dr. Francis Mervin L. Agdana, the Program Chair for the Teacher Education and the Director of Academics, in her message given during the opening meeting on September 27, is in consonance with Clause 9.2.1 in ISO 9001: 2015, which states that “internal audits should be conducted at planned intervals to provide information on whether the quality management system conforms to the organization’s own requirements; conforms to the requirements of ISO 9001; and is effectively implemented and maintained”.

The team of internal auditors is comprised of faculty from across SNSU system. It is headed by the Internal Lead Auditor, Dr. Merlyn L. Estoque (City Campus). Other auditors include Engr. Medielyn M. Odtojan (City Campus), Mr. Kristopher M. Ngilangil (City Campus), Dr. Manny P. Eviota (City Campus), Mr. Robert Franz D. Bendanillo (Del Carmen Campus), Ms. Rolit Joan C. Ferol (Maninit Campus), Mr. Elwin S. Argana (Del Carmen Campus), Dr. Juliet Ruth D. Mozar (Mainit Campus) and Dr. Romana M. Maglinte (Mainit Campus).

The audit findings were presented during the closing meeting on September 29. There were a number of minor non-compliance, in which Dr. Leonielyn G, Malicay, the SNSU-Malimono Campus Director, committed to comply before the external audit in February 2023.

BASIC AND ADVANCED ROTC TRAINEES JOIN CLOSING CEREMONY

Basic and Advanced Reserved Officer Training Corps joined the Joint Closing Ceremony on June 28, 2022 at SNSU Malimono Gym.

The said event was attended by officials of 1503rd Community Defense Center,15th RCDG ,Reserve Command, Philippine Army, headed by Maj Roque M. Agosila (INF) PA, Executive Officer.

DBM CONDUCTS ON-SITE VALIDATION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF LFPs

Officials from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) - Caraga, headed by Maria Fe D. Jagna, CESO IV, Regional Director, conducted an on-site evaluation on the implementation of Locally-Funded Projects (LFPs) of SSCT on June 27, 2022.

The activity will aid the DBM and SUC Field Delivery Units to assess on the ground the progress of status of LFPs, as well as discuss strategies to address implementation bottlenecks, if there are any.

The DBM officials were accompanied by the College President, Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa Jr. and other college officials.

The much-awaited conversion of SSCT into Surigao del Norte State University or SNSU was finally granted on June 23, 2022 during the Board of Trustees Meeting in Cagayan de Oro City. CHED Commissioner Jo Mark M. Libre said the universityhood was duly approved by the Commission En Banc of the CHED or Commission on Higher Education.

BSMB UNDERGOES INTERNAL AACCUP ACCREDITATION

The Bachelor in Marine Biology program underwent an internal AACCUP (Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc.) accreditation on June15-17, 2022. Internal accreditors, Dr. Elvis Patulin, Ms. Ivy Mabanto and Mr. Arvin Mag-usara, were tasked to peruse the documents from the Malimono campus.

The internal accreditation is done simultaneously across SSCT campuses, for programs preparing for level II AACCUP accreditation.
