March 1 is World Seagrass Day!

A day to recognize one of the ocean’s most vital yet overlooked ecosystems. Often mistaken for seaweeds, seagrasses play a critical role in promoting climate change mitigation, biodiversity, fisheries, culture and tradition, and coastal protection.

Conserving them is important and in doing so, learning more about this marine habitat is the first step.

The second day of the training highlighted the presentation and demonstration of standard mangrove and macroinvertebrate assessment techniques to our 2nd and 3rd Year Marine Biology students. The session further strengthened their technical competence in coastal ecosystem evaluation and research preparation.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our resource speakers, Ma’am Cyrine Rose Sinaca and Ma’am Emelyn Azucenas, for generously sharing their expertise and practical knowledge. We are likewise grateful for the guidance and unwavering support of our Program Chair in ensuring the success of this academic initiative.
