Bulacan State University (BulSU) officially marks a new era of campus life and welfare with the groundbreaking of its Five-Storey Student Dormitory and Staff Housing Facility today, April 15, 2026, at the 25-hectare Campus 2. This milestone project, a reinforced concrete structure spanning an estimated 5,700 square meters, underscores the universityโs commitment to providing a functional and well-organized residential facility within the campus.
The landmark facility is meticulously designed to balance academic focus with personal well-being. It will house a total of 119 residential room units, featuring diverse configurationsโfrom single beds to double-deck bedsโto cater to varying occupancy requirements.
Strategically planned for comfort, each room is equipped with essential furnishings such as study tables, chairs, and wardrobe cabinets. To ensure inclusivity, the building integrates dedicated accessibility features, including PWD ramps and elevators, catering to all users regardless of mobility.Beyond its residential capacity, the structure serves as a hub for convenience and holistic development:
- Commercial and Dining: The ground floor will feature 14 commercial stall units for convenient access to goods, complemented by a primary mess hall and an additional dining space on the second floor.
- Academic and Wellness: Designated study areas from the second to the fifth floor will serve as quiet zones, while the third floor will host an activity hall and gym room to promote physical fitness and student engagement.
- Service and Spirit: The facility includes a laundry and service area for housekeeping, as well as a chapel on the fifth floor for prayer, reflection, and spiritual activities.
The ceremony was led by University President Dr. Teody C. San Andres, alongside the universityโs executive council and a distinguished roster of guests, including national and local officials, and representatives from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The program featured the formal unveiling of the facility and the signing of plans for the capsule. The sacred rites of the blessing were solemnized by Rev. Art Concepcion, who served as the officiating minister for the groundbreaking.
Upon completion, this project is expected to provide a centralized and accessible housing option for students and staff, particularly those residing far from the university. This project stands as a testament to the universityโs ALAB core values, particularly its spirit of Bayanihan and prompt response to the evolving needs of its community.
