Bulacan State University through the initiatives of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, proudly mark its 7th Edition of UNESCO’s World Philosophy Day, a tradition sustained since 2019.

In line with this global observance, the Department held a Public Philosophical Symposium with the theme “Artificiality and Authenticity: Rethinking Personhood, Roles, and Justice.”

The event invited the BulSU community to engage in deep reflection on the intersections of human identity, technology, and moral responsibility in an increasingly artificial world.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Assistant Professors Rodrigo Emil Carreon and Jairus Diesta Espiritu, esteemed philosophy professors from Mapúa University, for sharing their profound insights that inspired our students and faculty to think more critically, reflectively, and ethically about the challenges of our time.

Special thanks to BulSU Taytayan and the Ethics students of BSIT-2H for their coverage and documentation of the program.

The BulSU Department of Philosophy offers its laudation to Hon. Marwin M. Dela Cruz, Ph.D. for being the 2023 Dangal ng Lipi Awardee for Education.

The most coveted and highest award, known as the Gawad Dangal ng Lipi, given to any Bulaqueño in recognition for their outstanding contributions to the field they are part of, to nation building, and to the development of people. The award was conferred by the Provincial Government of Bulacan on September 13, at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, Provincial Capitol Compound, City of Malolos as the highlight of the Singkaban Festival.

Notable recipients of the same award are National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario (2008), Theater Actor Jose Espineli “Joonee” Gamboa (2019) for Culture and Arts, Prof. Benito M. Pacheco, Ph.D., a former UPD Vice Chancellor (2016) and Former DOST Sec. Mario G. Montejo (2015) both for Science and Technology, Amb. Bienvenido R. Tantoco (2001), and Dr. Nicanor C. Tiongson (1992), Consul General Senen T. Mangalile (2014) just to name a few.

Before serving as President of Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA), Professor Dela Cruz served as professor of Philosophy at Bulacan State University.

The Department of Philosophy and Humanities of Bulacan State University-Malolos Campus celebrated its annual thanksgiving luncheon party to mark the end of the year 2022 on December 27, 2022. Present were current and former faculty of the department, making the event a simple reunion of colleagues and friends. The event was also joined by faculty of the Department of Public Administration and Governance and office staff of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.

The Department extends its warm greetings of a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. May all receive the gift of love, health, joy, and peace this blessed season and this coming year 2023.
