BulSUans celebrate the Opening Salvo of SRW Month 2022
— Sen. Trinidad
To celebrate the Opening Salvo of Students' Rights and Welfare Month (SRW) 2022, BulSUans gather in Valencia Hall on Thursday, October 6, 2022. With a theme, “The Presidents' Gambit (To Expose and To Reclaim),” students from different colleges parade around the campus, holding placards upholding their departments' advocacy and props for chant presentations.
At 2:45 pm, Student Regent and BulSU Student Government President Patricia Ann P. Camus delivered her first State of the Youth Address, breaking down the projects the council successfully implemented, including the Magna Carta of Student and 5 Point Youth Agenda.
After her speech, the Lakan and Lakambini 2022 introduction started, where each college cheered for their representatives as they creatively showcased their advocacies.
Following the program, Senator Althea Jana Trinidad delivered her message highlighting the Supreme Government's Regent's preparation and the importance of the event.
The preparation of SG for the event was a long process, said Sen. Trinidad.
To end the program, Harold Gatchalian, SRW Lakan 2021 title holder, led the torch lighting, a symbol of hope, and formally opened the celebration for this year.
As part of Student Government efforts to challenge injustices, SRW Month is observed annually. It aims to raise awareness and resistance to the crisis that is currently occurring and to safeguard not only the welfare and rights of students but also every citizen of the Philippines. | via Aliza Arcilla & Anamarie Antolin, The Communiqué
