๐ฌ๐โโ๏ธ What truly drives student-athletes to stay engaged in sport?
This predictive-causal study investigated how life satisfaction, curiosity, and academic resilience influence sports engagement among 399 student-athletes from a public higher education institution, while also examining the mediating role of perceived coachโs emotional support using PLS-SEM.

๐ง Curiosity emerged as a significant predictor of sports engagement
๐ก๏ธ Academic resilience significantly predicted perceived coachโs emotional support
๐ซ Perceived coachโs emotional support did not directly predict sports engagement
๐ Coachโs emotional support did not mediate the relationships between psychological factors and engagement
๐ฏ Findings suggest that self-driven psychological resources, rather than external emotional support alone, play a stronger role in sustaining sports engagement
๐ง The study highlights that engagement in sport is largely internally regulated, underscoring the importance of nurturing curiosity and resilience among student-athletes alongside traditional coaching approaches.
