In line with the official announcement of 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹, 𝑪𝒆𝒃𝒖 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 has been placed under a special non-working holiday from 𝗠𝗮𝘆 6 𝘁𝗼 8 (𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆). The declaration covers Cebu City and Mandaue City, alongside previously identified areas including Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova, in support of the 𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 2026.

In relation to this announcement, the institution aligns with the directive. Classes are 𝗦𝗨𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗗 starting from 12 𝗻𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆. Classes will resume on 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟵.

📰 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘆: 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 🗣

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, May 3, 2026, we celebrate 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐚𝐲, and it is a must that we once again recognize the significance of the recurring celebration. It is a 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 to live the once-challenged rights that we have today, but it was a 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 for those who 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞, who 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞, and who 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 the flawed, unjust system that they thought must be changed. Today, let us be reminded how the press identifies the fooled path created by the ones in power, fights for the powerless, and vanquishes inhumanity.

𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭. The Philippines is in such a frustrating state up until today, a prolonging crisis that is underscored by the government. What do we do? We 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, we 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤, we 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐭, and we 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 actions. And in every thought published, freedom unclasps; humans feel free, and after that? 𝐖𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠. A subtle revolution lives everyday, building a bricked pathway, a fixed, solid, and stable demand for justice and change, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬, 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝.

Therefore, as we celebrate World Press Freedom Day, may we be reminded that we have the right to notice, to speak, to call out, and to demand. It is the day to embrace the freedom that we have, the freedom that brought all of us here, and the freedom that fought for the ones that were chained.

Behind every smile is a kind of exhaustion that goes unseen. In every step of the Filipino worker lies the weight of a system that has long been blind and unhearing.

We witness their effort—but who truly listens to their silent struggles? “Kapoy na, pero padayon gihapon.” This is the quiet cry of many—hands that keep building, bodies that grow weary, and minds slowly carrying more than they should.

As BS Psychology students, we don’t just study the mind—we choose to listen to it. Behind every labor is mental strain, burnout, and the painful reality of being overlooked by the very systems meant to protect them.

Yet today, we pause not only to recognize the struggle—but to honor you.
Your resilience.
Your sacrifice.
Your unwavering strength to keep going despite it all.

This is not just a celebration—it is a call.
A call for justice.
A call for dignity.
A call to finally see and hear the workers who have long been ignored.

This day, 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟯𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (at the Psychology Laboratory) our beloved seniors will stand before 𝐷𝑟. 𝑅𝑒𝑦𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑅. 𝐿𝑢𝑠𝑝𝑒, 𝑅𝑃𝑠𝑦., as their head panelist, to present the theses they have poured their hearts into. Today, they will defend every ounce of their blood, sweat, and tears and in doing so, earn the right to walk across that stage with pride and well-deserved honor.

FYI: The University of Cebu has officially opened enrollment for incoming college freshmen on April 6, 2026.

Enrollment for Basic Education, covering Pre-Elementary to Senior High School, is also ongoing.

To facilitate early registration, the university is accepting photocopies of report cards up to the third grading period for students whose final grades are not yet available.

Moreover, applicants are encouraged to visit their respective campuses early to secure their slots for the upcoming academic year.
