Our very own CDU International Studies students made their mark at the inaugural, intercollegiate International Studies Model United Nations (IS MUN) held last May 7-8, 2026, at the USJ-R Quadricentennial Campus.
Under the theme "Architects of a Blue-Green Future: Forging Consensus for the Visayas and Beyond," the two-day summit brought together delegates from USJ-R, USC, and Cebu Doctors’ University. While USJ-R celebrated 13 years of hosting MUN, this inaugural inter-institutional format provided a fresh platform for our CDU IS students to showcase their diplomatic prowess on a larger stage.
Representing the university while serving the global interests of their assigned nations were:
Brendan Salazar – Republic of Brazil
Janna Heart Monterroyo – Federal Republic of Germany
Alexa Chanel Quiamco – State of Japan
Jeremiah David Serrato – Republic of Malaysia
Keisha Steffi Borbon – Republic of Sudan
Under the dedicated mentorship and support of Ms. Corina Encabo, Mr. Clyde Abelo, and Mr. Jeffrey Gapol from the Department of International Studies, our CDU IS delegates navigated complex global issues and high-stakes negotiations with impressive skill and composure.
The event concluded on a high note as the CDU delegation brought home two major honors. The team received the Felipe Agoncillo group award (Delegation Honorable Mention) for demonstrating the most cohesive diplomatic front throughout the conference. Additionally, Keisha Borbon was individually recognized with the Carlos P. Romulo award for being the Best Novice Delegate.
Congratulations to our budding diplomats for their hard work and for bringing honor to the CDU community!
