Some people leave a mark on a place that can never be filled, no matter how much time passes. Abby is one of them.

Abby was the bubbliest, warmest, and kindest person we knew. Her smile was not just something we saw, it was something we felt. It had a way of reaching people, of making them feel safe, welcome, and cared for. She always showed up and gave her best, not because she had to, but because she genuinely cared. That is what made people trust her. That is what made people look up to her.

Her absence is not just noticed, it is felt. Thank you for being our friend. We carry you with us in everything we do. You are deeply missed, Abby.

In partnership with Rotaplast, we were able to connect with Dr. Marlene Salas-Provance, PhD, CCC-SLP from A.T. Ethical dilemmas are part of everyday practice in Speech Language Pathology. Many clinical decisions are not simply right or wrong. They often involve balancing patient safety, family wishes, clinical evidence, and institutional policies. Situations like managing swallowing risks, recognizing possible child abuse, or knowing when something is outside an SLP’s scope of practice can place clinicians in difficult positions.

This advocacy piece highlights some of the ethical challenges SLP students and clinicians may face in real settings. It also reminds us that learning how to navigate these situations takes guidance, reflection, and experience. Ethics is not only about following rules. Congratulations, new RSLPs! The world is waiting to hear what you have to say. πŸ—£οΈβœ¨

On January 11, 2026, the halls of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) were filled with more than just prestige; they were filled with the newest voices of Philippine speech-language pathology. Young SLPs stood tall, raised their right hands, and officially transitioned from β€œgraduates” to Registered Speech-Language Pathologists (RSLPs).

This commitment to "future-proofing" our practitioners extends beyond the stage of the PICC. In the spirit of ensuring our students and alumni are prepared for the highest standards of clinical service, our SLP Chairman and Internship Coordinator recently conducted productive hospital-site visits at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center . By strengthening our ties with premier institutions like PGH and AFP Medical, we ensure that the bridge between education and practice remains strong, preparing our future RSLPs to serve the Filipino people with excellence from day one.

Some toddlers struggle with eating because of sensory challenges.
This randomized controlled trial highlights the effectiveness of sensory-based feeding intervention (SOS Approach) for toddlers with food refusal. Through gradual sensory exposure to food, children showed improved mealtime behaviors, reduced emotional distress during feeding, and parents experienced less stress compared to nutrition education alone.

This study strengthens the evidence for sensory and behavioral approaches in managing pediatric feeding and swallowing difficulties. Sharing and applying research like this supports ethical, effective, and child-centered SLP practice grounded in science.
