His Eminence Orlando Cardinal Beltran Quevedo, O.M.I., D.D., shared a meaningful message with the Class of 2026, reminding the graduates that lasting peace begins within the heart.
He encouraged them to live out the Benedictine spirit of Ora et Labora—grounding their lives in prayer, diligent work, and selfless service—as they navigate the continuing pursuit of social peace and the challenges of the world beyond the University.

As the Class of 2026 begins a new chapter, Cardinal Quevedo’s words serve as a lasting reminder: to seek peace within, work for the good of others, and serve with faith and purpose.

Last July 30, 2026, during the Commencement Exercises held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), San Beda University conferred the Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa, upon His Eminence Orlando Cardinal Beltran Quevedo, O.M.I., D.D., in recognition of his exemplary leadership, distinguished service to the Church, and enduring contributions to society.

This distinguished honor celebrates a life dedicated to faith, service, and the pursuit of the common good— values that continue to inspire our graduates as they begin the next chapter of their own journeys, carrying with them the spirit of service and excellence that defines a true Bedan.

| Today we honor the life, courage, and sacrifice of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. A man who stood for freedom, democracy, and the belief that “The Filipino is worth dying for.”

May his legacy inspire us to value our liberty, stand for what is right, and work together to build a better nation for every Filipino.

Lest we forget the price of our freedom.

| As instructed by the Fr. Rector-President, all classes tomorrow, August 20, 2026 (Thursday), will shift to online mode, due to anticipated inclement weather caused by the Southwest Monsoon ( ).

In line with Memorandum Circular No 131 issued by Malacanang late this afternoon, the Fr. Rector-President is amending the previous announcement pertaining to the work arrangement:

Office work operation in SBU Manila and Rizal is suspended tomorrow, August 20, 2026.

However, those offices which render essential services may report onsite, and those which need to finish their respective deliverable may adopt a work from home arrangement, subject to the assessment and discretion of their respective office heads.

Upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon, government offices in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Occidental Mindoro are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on 20 August 2026.

Agencies delivering essential and vital services shall continue their operations. Alternative learning modes and learning continuity measures shall be implemented in public and private schools in the aforementioned areas.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.
