Longtime UST Administrator Rev. fr. Dionisio G. Cabezon, O.P., PhD, joined our Creator at the age of 95.
The Dominican priest was a scholar, educator, formator, and faithful servant of the Church and our University.
He served as the fourth Chair of the UST Department of Psychology (1978-1979) under the UST-Science. He also served as Director of the Guidance and Testing Center (2000-2010), helping shape the Universityโs admissions and guidance programs under his direct supervision in 1982, taking charge of University-wide examinations and the evaluation of student applicants.
Fr. Dionisio served as Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy (1979-1985, 1991-1994, and 2006-2007), contributing to the formation of seminarians, religious, clergy, and lay students within the Universityโs ecclesiastical tradition.
He also rendered service during moments of institutional transition, including his appointment as Acting Regent of the UST Faculty of Civil Law (2003-2004), Regent of the Faculty of Engineering (1969-1972), and Acting Regent of the UST College of Architecture (1969-1971),
His academic work reflected the Dominican conviction that faith and reason are companions in the search for truth, while his leadership shone with prudence and pastoral concern, safeguarding academic standards while recognizing the human story behind every applicant and student.
Eternal rest grant unto fr. Cabezon, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
