As we temporarily shift to online learning, we are reminded that caring for our community takes many forms.

When our Merlions are on campus, we ensure that our students are looked after - from providing a warm meal through our soup kitchen to creating a campus where their physical and mental well-being matters.

And when circumstances call for them to stay home, caring means giving them the opportunity to remain safe while learning.

To our Merlions, I hope you are safe and well as you continue your classes from virtually. Please keep learning as best you can.

We miss seeing you on campus. We hope it won't be long before our classrooms, hallways, and shared spaces are once again filled with you - your dreams and all the possibilities that come with them.

📢 EARTHQUAKE ALERT | UNIVERSIDAD DE MANILA

Mild ground shaking was felt across the campus following a Magnitude 5.8 earthquake centered in Occidental Mindoro at 10:38 AM today, August 7, 2026.

There are no reports of injuries and the University remains fully safe.

Stay calm and vigilant, everyone!

After celebrating two of the University's biggest milestones - the graduation of Class of 2026 and the opening of a new school year, we now enter a season of sustaining our momentum.

During the recently concluded Board of Regents meeting, we reflected on what has been accomplished, address what lies before us, and begin preparing for the next set of priorities.

While the pace may be a little quieter, the work continues behind the scenes to ensure that every step we take today strengthens the milestones we aim to achieve tomorrow.

Under the leadership of Dr. Manuel Richard B. Martinez, Director for Quality Assurance and Accreditation, our university is actively strengthening the very origin of its global excellence through robust, root-level quality assurance. Greatness on the world stage always begins with unyielding standards at home.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to share this President's Hour with our second quarter birthday celebrants as I listen to their thoughts, and talk about our shared hopes for Universidad de Manila and for each one's professional growth.
