"Death rather than Sin"

A patron saint for choirboys, delinquents, and altar servers, St. Dominic Savio was a teenage boy who pursued holiness in his great love in God. A student of St. John Bosco, Dominic, carried and applied the Salesian Spirituality despite being very young.

Much like St. Benilde, Dominic Savio pursued turning the mundane and ordinary things, extraordinary, offering them as service to the Lord. He pursued helping his delinquent peers find redemption since Don Bosco's oratory welcomed all people. He became part of the community that partakes in the salvation of souls.

Unfortunately, he passed away at just 14 years old due to disease. His life is an inspiration, especially to young people, that holiness and sanctity can be pursued regardless of age and whatever your past may be.

Ang buwan na Mayo ay panahon ng debosyon at kaganapan ukol sa Mahal na Ina sa Pilipinas. Ito ay tinatawag na Flores de Mayo.

Nagsimula ito sa Pilipinas noong panahon ng Kastila kung saan iniaalay ang mga bulaklak sa imahe ni Maria. Ito'y ipinalaganap upang mas mapalapit ang mga kabataan at makahubog ng debosyon sa Mahal na Birhen. Kadalasan, nagkakaroon ito ng kapistahan sa mga Parokya sa mga unang linggo ng Mayo.

Nawa'y ang buong Mayo ay magsilbing paalala at gabay sa atin, na laging may ina tayong patuloy nagmamahal at sinasamahan tayo sa hirap at ginhawa.

This labor day, we also celebrate the patron of workers, St. Joseph.

A carpenter and the earthly paternal figure of Jesus, St. Joseph modeled the dignity of labor. He serves as an example that holiness can be pursued through labor. Through our own work, God calls us to be examples of holiness to our coworkers and to realize the dignity of all human work.

Today, we remember the Birthday of St. John Baptist de La Salle

On April 30 1651, St. John Baptist de La Salle was born in Reims, France. His parents were Nicolle Moët and Louis de La Salle. He was the first of 11 children and was baptised on the same day in the church of Saint-Hilaire.

May his life inspire us to continue serving others, especially the marginalized, living Jesus in our Hearts everyday.

Today we honor Blessed Nicolas Roland a Priest, Canon, Mystic, Apostle of the prayer, and helper of the poor, especially children. He was a teacher and Founder of the Congregation of the “Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus."

He was born on 8 December 1642 in Rheims, Marne, France and died on 27 April 1678 in Rheims, Marne, France of natural causes, aged 35. He was a friend, contemporary and Spiritual Director of Saint La Salle.

May his life guide us to become nurturers and instruments of faith and love.
