As described in Paolo Freire’s “Banking system of education,” the traditional teaching method for language instruction consists of one-way transfer of knowledge from teacher to student and a main focus on grammatical instruction. As a response, educators have been developing new dialogic and student-centered approaches to language pedagogy.

Juland Dayo Salayo of the UST Senior High School and Rachelle Ballesteros-Lintao of the UST Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCCSSED) discuss how the pandemic has been pushing language teachers to move away from the traditional teacher-centered model in their paper “No walls, no ceilings, no floors: e-dialogic language teaching in basic education during the COVID-19 pandemic”
