Ngayong ika-21 ng Agosto, taos-pusong nakikiisa ang BA Social Sciences (Area Studies) ng UP Manila sa paggunita sa kabayanihan at hindi matatawarang sakripisyo ni dating Senador Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr.

Ang kanyang katapangan sa pagharap sa diktadurya at paninindigan para sa demokrasya ay patuloy na nagsisilbing inspirasyon at hamon sa ating lahat. Sa kasalukuyang panahon kung saan patuloy nating nilalayon ang isang malaya, makatarungan, at maunlad na lipunan, ang kanyang mga salita ay umaalingawngaw bilang isang matibay na paalala: ang ating bayan at ang bawat Pilipino ay laging ipaglalaban.

Bilang mga Iskolar ng Bayan at mamamayang Pilipino, bitbit natin ang tungkulin na isabuhay ang diwa ng demokrasya, ipagtanggol ang katotohanan, at paglingkuran ang masa.

Huwag makalimot. Magkaisa. Tumindig. ✊🇵🇭

Bilang pagtalima ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Manila na isulong ang Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #5 o ang 'Pagkakapantay-pantay ng Kasarian', ang Center for Gender and Women Studies (CGWS) — kasama ang Area Studies Program, Lakambini: Samahan ng mga Kababaihang Historyador ng Pilipinas, at Organization for Area Studies Majors (Or**SM) — ay naghanda ng isang natatanging serye ng mga presentasyon upang talakayin at gunitain ang mga makasaysayang tagumpay at namamalaging pamana ng mga kababaihang tagapanguna sa larangan ng kasaysayan, pilosopiya, at medisina.
