Three cheers to Brod Jose Maria Carlos dela Cuesta Camagay, MD Φ2015 for earning 3rd Place in both the Podium and Poster Presentations at the 34th Residents’ Research Forum!

The forum, held last February 27, 2026 at the Philippine Orthopedic Center Auditorium in Quezon City gathers medical residents annually to showcase research excellence through podium and poster presentations. His achievement highlights his dedication to academic and clinical excellence.

Brod Macky graduated from the UP College of Medicine, Class of 2020, and recently completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Philippine Orthopedic Center last 2025.

Three cheers to Brod Laurence Tan Loh, MD, FPAPRAS Ф1984A for being awarded in recognition of his 25 years of continuous dedicated service at Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center!

Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center is recognized as one of the World’s Best Hospitals 2026 by Newsweek, where he currently serves as the Chief of the Plastic Surgery Section and previously served as Chief of the Burn Unit.

Brod Owen was also elected Past President of the Philippine Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, Inc. (PAPRAS), President and Medical Director of Operation Smile Philippines, President of the Philippine Society of Burn Injuries (PSBI), Vice President of Cleft Foundation Inc., and Medical Director of the Pampanga Cleft Center.

Brod Owen finished his fellowship in Craniofacial and Microvascular Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School – Norfolk General Hospital.

Three cheers to Brods Dominic Leandro Fernandez Milla, MD, FPCR Φ2013 and John Albert Amante Gonzales, MD, FPARM Φ2014 for their remarkable achievements and recent conferral of Fellowship in their respective specialties!

Brod Andro was conferred the title of Fellow of the Philippine College of Radiology on February 21, 2026. He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 2018. He then completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology in 2024 and fellowship in Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging in 2025 at the Philippine General Hospital. During his training, he served as the Assistant Chief Resident for External Affairs in 2021, represented the PGH Department of Radiology as the Vice President of the PCR-RTC Chief Residents’ Council that same year, and later took on the role of Assistant Chief Resident for Conferences and Continuing Medical Education in 2022.

Brod Aljohn was conferred the title of Fellow of the Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine on February 20, 2026. He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 2019, completed his Residency in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Philippine General Hospital in 2022, and served as the Chief Resident in 2023. He also currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Director for Flagship Projects at the Philippine General Hospital.

Congratulations, Brods! Your dedication, excellence, and commitment to your respective fields continue to bring pride to the Brotherhood and inspire future generations of physicians.

Three cheers to Brod George Guntur Abanes Pujalte, MD Φ1996B on the recent distinction he and Orthopedic Humanitarian Initiatives (Ortho HI) received during the 81st Anniversary celebration of the Philippine Orthopedic Center.

Brod George and Ortho HI, the nonprofit organization he established, were recognized with two citations, one awarded to the organization and another bestowed upon him personally in acknowledgment of his outstanding leadership and steadfast commitment to its mission. Brod George’s work reflects the ideals our fraternity values most: service above self, compassion for the underserved, and a sustained pursuit of excellence.

Through Ortho HI, he has significantly improved the lives of children and vulnerable patients with musculoskeletal conditions, while fostering research and educational initiatives that enhance charitable orthopedic care in the Philippines and around the world.

Brod George currently serves as Professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. He is a Consultant in the Departments of Family Medicine and Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, where he also holds the role of his department’s Vice Chair for Research. Over the course of his career, he has cared for patients ranging from members of local communities to elite international athletes.

He also has previously served for many years as Team Physician for USA Taekwondo and currently serves as Medical Lead for the USA Archery National Governing Body. His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards for excellence in teaching and patient care, including the Mayo Clinic Patient Experience Award.

Phi Kappa Mu joins in celebrating this achievement and looks forward to the continued difference Brod George will make in the lives of many.

Last February 21, 2026, the brothers of Phi Kappa Mu came together at the San Lorenzo Village Clubhouse in Makati for the annual Phi Riot. Joined by alumni from across the globe, the night was filled with stories, great food, flowing drinks, and music.

Three cheers to Brods Jose Castillo Gonzales Φ1969A and Gerardo Dizon Legaspi Φ1983B and our February celebrants for making the night one to remember. The PHI Brotherhood truly stands as a bond that lasts across generations.

Three cheers to Brod Ellewellyn Gueco Pasion Φ1964 who will be awarded Emeritus National Representative by the Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie (SICOT) on September 29, 2026, during its Congress in Kyoto, Japan.

Brod Lewy is a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon, educator, and international leader in orthopaedics. He previously served as National Representative of the Philippines to SICOT (1993–2014) and as President of the Philippine Orthopaedic Association and the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, as well as the ASEAN Orthopaedic Association. Among his notable recognitions are the Presidential Leadership Award (2023) from the Philippine Orthopaedic Association, Lifetime Achievement Awards from the ASEAN Orthopaedic Association (2023) and the Philippine College of Surgeons (2025), and his conferment as Honorary Fellow of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (2025).

Three cheers to Brod Acd. Charles Yap Yu, MD, MSc, FPCP, FPCCP Φ1978 for being awarded the Annual Philippine Federation of Professional Associations Distinction Award 2026 for the Medicine Profession (Private/Specialized Practice Category)!

The PFPA Distinction Award honors individuals who practice their profession with exceptional competence and compassion, uphold the highest ethical standards, and deliver work whose impact goes far beyond expectations. It recognizes professionals whose contributions meaningfully benefit the profession, their organizations, their communities, and the country, and who have earned local recognition and critical acclaim for excellence in their field.

This latest honor adds to his recent recognition as a recipient of the 2026 Princess Chichibu Memorial Global TB Award, one of the highest international distinctions in tuberculosis control conferred by the Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association in partnership with The Union.

A trailblazing pulmonologist, educator, and public health leader, Brod Choly is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in tuberculosis, asthma, and COPD, and for championing the nationwide integration of the Public–Private Mix DOTS strategy into health training. His impact extends globally through his service as a WHO Consultant and USAID Senior Adviser. In 2025, he was inducted as an Academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology.

Marked by tradition and shared purpose, the Induction Ball of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity, held last December 19, 2025, reflected the collective effort and stewardship behind the occasion. The event brought together brothers, partners, and guests in celebration of leadership, continuity, and new beginnings within the Fraternity.
