Tau Mu Epsilon Fraternity
University of Santo Tomas – Faculty of Engineering
In October 28, 1952, a group of dynamic and visionary Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students from the University of Santo Tomas shared a common dream — to build an organization that embodied brotherhood, equality, and camaraderie among Thomasian engineers.
Their goal was not just unity, but excellence — to cultivate potential, nurture talent, and produce highly skilled and competitive engineers who would stand out in society.
From this vision was born the Tau Mu Epsilon Fraternity of the UST Faculty of Engineering — the first duly recognized fraternity within the college.
Its name, drawn from the Greek alphabet, symbolizes the very essence of engineering:
Tau (Τ) – Torque, the rotational force in Mechanics.
Mu (Μ) – the coefficient of Friction in Physics.
Epsilon (Ε) – the Electromotive Force in Electrical Circuits.
Together, these symbols represent the Thomasian Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Fraternity — Tau Mu Epsilon.
Today, as we celebrate our 73rd Founding Anniversary, we honor the legacy built by our founders and continue to uphold the values they envisioned over seven decades ago.
Producing Good Thomasian Engineers. Making Thomasian Engineering Better.
🔶 Join the Brotherhood. Be Part of Tau Mu Epsilon.
