SRC-M ends its DSPC Journey; prepares for RSPC

After an almost month-long competition, SRC-M’s 2026 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) journey has finally come to an end, with the Awarding Ceremonies held on September 19, 2026, at Librada Avelino Elementary School for the Elementary Level and on September 26, 2026, at Lakan Dula High School for the High School Level.

In this year’s DSPC, SRC-M garnered a total of two awards in the Elementary Level and four awards in the High School Level.

Despite having limited time to prepare for the Individual Categories due to the suspension of face-to-face classes, our Ritarian student journalists remained committed to giving their best and showcasing their journalism skills. The English journalists were trained under the supervision of Ms. Rea Mar Ocio, Student Activity Coordinator and School Paper Adviser, while the Filipino journalists were supervised by Mr. Dan Vincent Losabia, Academic Coordinator.

The school was represented by 12 students from Grades 4 to 6 in the Elementary Level. Among them, two students were recognized among the Top 10 journalists in their respective individual categories. Maria Nicole Jardin earned Rank 4 in Kartuning Pang-Editoryal, while Nylze Fransine Maghirang earned Rank 2 in Feature Writing, earning her a spot as one of SRC-M’s representatives to the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC).

Meanwhile, 17 Ritarian student journalists competed in various individual categories in the High School Level. Four of them were recognized among the Top 10 journalists in their respective categories. Gail Analeigh Ortiz-Luis earned Rank 9 in Copy Editing and Headline Writing, Fille Alethia Rizardo earned Rank 6 in Editorial Writing, Princess Lindsay Bielle Hipolito earned Rank 3 in Feature Writing, and **Jhaniella Dela Cruz achieved Rank 1 in Pagkuha ng Larawang Pampahayagan.**

**Jhaniella’s achievement marks a significant milestone for SRC-M, as her Rank 1 finish is the highest ranking earned by the school in its second year of participation in the DSPC.** Her outstanding performance also earned her a place among the school’s representatives to the Regional Schools Press Conference this coming December 2026, alongside Princess Lindsay Bielle Hipolito and Nylze Fransine Maghirang.

The Ritarian student journalists were accompanied by Mr. Dan Vincent Losabia during the Awarding Ceremonies held on September 19 and 26.

SRC-M’s DSPC 2026 journey has finally come to an end, but a new journey begins as our RSPC qualifiers prepare for the upcoming Regional Schools Press Conference this December 2026.

Smart Money, Bright Futures: Young Ritarians Take Charge of Their Financial Destiny
While standard school subjects teach algebra and literature, mastering the art of handling money is what truly prepares students for real-world independence. To bridge this vital gap, Grade 7 to 10 students gathered at the school audio – visual room for an eye-opening financial awareness seminar carrying the theme, "Money Matters: Building Smart Financial Habits for Young Ritarians."

The venue buzzed with youthful energy as students filed in, notebook pens poised and curiosity high. For many teenagers, money management rarely extends beyond spending a daily allowance on after-school snacks or gaming credits. The seminar set out to shift that mindset, replacing short-term spending habits with a vision for long-term security and personal growth.

The energy shifted from casual curiosity to deep engagement as guest speaker Mary June Aissa De Roxas Cudiamat took the stage. With a grounded, accessible approach, Cudiamat transformed complex financial strategies into actionable, relatable habits tailored specifically for junior high school students.
She walked the young audience through fundamental pillars of personal finance: Needs vs. Wants: Learning to pause before a purchase to distinguish between immediate impulses and actual essentials. The Magic of Compound Interest: Demonstrating how saving small, regular amounts starting in youth creates exponential long-term growth. Goal-Oriented Budgeting: Crafting a simple 50-30-20 budget plan for daily allowances to fund future educational goals and emergency savings. Smart Digital Spending: Navigating online payments and e-wallets responsibly while guarding personal data against digital scams.
"I always thought budgeting was something only parents had to worry about," shared a Grade 9 student during the open floor discussion. "Hearing Ms. Cudiamat break it down showed me that starting right now even with fifty pesos a week actually makes a massive difference."

Interactive Q&A rounds brought lively participation as students raised practical questions about managing allowance allocations, resisting peer pressure in social spending, and taking first steps toward micro-investing.
Financial literacy is far more than an academic concept; it is a vital life skill rooted in discipline, foresight, and self-reliance. By embedding these habits early, the event empowered Young Ritarians to view money not merely as something to spend, but as a tool to build a secure, meaningful future.

Cultivating Curious Minds: Mrs. Romalyn Rizardo Inspires JHS Students at Saint Rita College Manila’s Research 101
Guest speaker shares practical insights on critical inquiry, empowering young Ritarians to turn everyday curiosity into impactful research.

Research is often met by junior high school students with a mix of hesitation and dread imagined as an endless maze of dense jargon, rigid statistics, and late-night stress. But on September 15, 2026, inside the halls of Saint Rita College Manila, Inc., that intimidating narrative was completely transformed into a journey of discovery.
Gathered for the school's "Research 101" seminar under the theme "Think, Ask, Investigate The Basis of Research for JHS Students," Junior High School (JHS) students discovered that academic inquiry isn't just a classroom requirement it is a vital mindset. Serving as the event's guest speaker, Mrs. Romalyn Rizardo delivered an engaging keynote that demystified the research process, significantly enriching the academic and analytical development of the young Ritarian community.

Grounding her talk on the core pillars of thinking, asking, and investigating, Mrs. Rizardo emphasized that every great scientific or social breakthrough begins not with complex methodologies, but with simple, everyday curiosity. She challenged students to look at research as an accessible tool for real-world problem-solving rather than an abstract academic chore.

Throughout her session, Mrs. Rizardo provided actionable strategies tailored specifically for developing minds, focusing on three essential pillars: Framing Purposeful Questions: Guiding students to move beyond surface-level queries toward deeper, actionable research problems. Critical Thinking in the Information Age: Teaching young scholars how to evaluate sources responsibly to combat misinformation and maintain academic integrity. Systematic Investigation: Demonstrating how to collect, analyze, and present data effectively without feeling overwhelmed by the process.

The Research 101 seminar reflects Saint Rita College Manila’s ongoing commitment to cultivating academic excellence, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. By introducing foundational research skills early in their academic journey, the institution ensures that Ritarians build the intellectual confidence needed for higher education and future leadership roles.

As the seminar drew to a close, the room was filled with a renewed sense of purpose and curiosity. Thanks to the expertise and meaningful insights shared by Mrs. Romalyn Rizardo, the young scholars of Saint Rita College Manila are no longer just passive learners they are now prepared to think deeply, ask courageously, and investigate the world around them with confidence.

Living Water, Living Faith: Saint Rita College Manila, Inc. Seals International Commitment to Creation Care
Water is more than a biological necessity it is a sacred symbol of life, and education learners are answering the call to protect every drop.
The Institution has officially solidified its global commitment to environmental stewardship through the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. By completing the foundational steps on the Laudato Si’ Action Platform enrolling, submitting a long-term action plan, and pledging concrete ecological goals the school has earned its Official Certificate of International Partnership.
Anchored in the theme of Living Water, students from primary grades through college are turning this international recognition into daily practice. Classrooms have become hubs of ecological conversion: students lead CLAYGO projects, eliminate single-use plastics to protect local watersheds, 3Rs, zero – waste management, cleanliness, tumbler use, and organize campus cleanups. By integrating water ethics into both science curricula and faith formation, young learners are discovering that preserving clean water is an essential act of justice for neighbor and nature alike.
With their international certificate now proudly displayed, our Ritarian stewards and caretakers demonstrate that when young faith meets global action, the stream of hope and renewal flows endlessly.
