๐๐„๐–๐’ | Selected Tutors and YWDs complete 5-Day training for TBTP 2026

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) NCR, in partnership with Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta. Mesa (PUP) successfully concluded a five-day virtual Capability Building training for the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program 2026 on April 17, 2026, through Zoom Communications hosted by the Bachelor of Elementary and Secondary Teaching Society (BEST Society).

The training kicked off last April 13 and prepared participants for a 20-day tutoring project coming this May. The training taught future teachers implementation rules, child protection, and financial literacy to help young learners.

๐๐„๐–๐’ | BEED students promote Gender-Inclusive Education on GAD seminar

The Bachelor of Elementary Education Association (BEEDA) recently conducted a seminar titled โ€œBEEDyond Pink and Blue: Educating Without Gender Linesโ€ last April 14, 2026, at the Claro M. Recto Hall, which aimed to help education students understand the importance of Gender and Development (GAD) in teaching.

The main part of the program was a seminar led by Maria Liza D. Dela Rosa, an expert in gender equality and a graduate of Batangas State University. During her talk, she taught the students how to remove gender barriers in education so that all children feel equal. She ended her session with a powerful reminder, stating that because teachers shape the future, they have a duty to promote respect, equality, and inclusion. Her message highlighted the guest speakerโ€™s goal of preparing students to be champions of fairness in their future careers.

The Limestone joined labor leaders and youth advocates last April 13,2026 at the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) entitled โ€œStudent Forum on the Impacts of Imperialist Aggression, Rising Costs, and Access to Educationโ€ to protest President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.โ€™s new four-day work week mandate and stricter energy protocols. The forum, centered on rising costs and educational access, served as a unified response to the administration's recent economic and labor policies.

Leading the discussion was Mr. Pete Pinlac, Secretary-General of Manggagawa sa Komunikasyon ng Pilipinas and Lead Convenor of Workers Challenge. He provided a sobering geopolitical analysis, framing the current local situation within the context of "Fragmented Globalization" and a "Polycrisis" in a multipolar world.

1. The Literary Writing Contest is open to Secondary and Tertiary level students, nationwide, except for the organizers of the competition.

2. Each participant may submit only one (1) entry via Google Forms. Multiple submissions will result in disqualification.

3. Entries must be ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ก๐š๐ฏ๐ž ๐›๐ž๐ž๐ง ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐›๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐, submitted, or awarded in any other contest prior to this competition.

6. Entries may be written in English or Filipino. Code-switching (a mix of the two languages) is allowed, provided it does not compromise literary integrity. However, the dominant language will be considered as the medium of the article for categorization purposes.

7. Two (2) winners will be selected per medium, English and Filipino, following the contest criteria.

8. Entries with sensitive topics and language is accepted, provided that the purpose of the piece is to inform, express, and comment about social, political, and economical issues, aligned with the contest theme.

9. The contest will run from April 15 - April 20, 2026. The deadline for submission is April 20, 2026 at exactly 11:59 p.m. Late submissions will not be entertained.

Ngayong Abril, ipinagdiriwang ang Pambansang Buwan ng Panitikan sa temang โ€œBekรซt Panitikan: Panitikan ng Katwiran at Kalikasan,โ€ na sumasagisag sa pagkakaisa at pagbibigkis ng sambayanan. Sa bawat tula, kuwento, sanaysay, kanta, at pelikula, naipahahayag ang kritikal na pag-iisip, kamalayang panlipunan, at malasakit sa kalikasan. Kayaโ€™t ating buhayin, payabungin, at ipaglaban ang panitikanโ€”sapagkat hanggaโ€™t may nagsusulat, nagbabasa, at nakikinig, mananatiling buhay ang diwa ng ating bayan.

Sa pagdiriwang na ito, kinikilala natin ang panitikan bilang salamin ng kasaysayan at daluyan ng pagbabago. Ito ang nagsisilbing tinig ng mga inaapi, ilaw ng katotohanan, at gabay sa paghubog ng isang makatarungan at makakalikasan na lipunan. Sa pamamagitan ng malikhaing pagpapahayag, naipapasa mula sa isang salinlahi tungo sa susunod ang mga aral, karanasan, at pangarap ng sambayanan. Ipinamalas ng mga piling mag-aaral ng Politeknikong Unibersidad ng Pilipinas mula sa College of Education (COED) ang kanilang husay sa katatapos lamang na Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges, National Culture and the Arts Festival 2026 (PASUC NCAF) na ginanap noong Abril 11 sa West Visayas State University, La Paz, IloIlo City.

Limang mag-aaral ang nagkamit ng karangalan mula sa nasabing kolehiyo. Una ay si Daniela May M. Lavapie mula sa BEED 1-1, ang nakasungkit ng ikatlong puwesto sa Songwriting, na nagpamalas ng kanyang talento sa musika at paglikha ng awit. Kasunod nito, nakuha naman ni Bernadette Andrea L. Contreras mula sa BEED 4-1 ang ikaapat na puwesto sa Short and Sweet Play (Dialogue), ipinakita nito ang kanyang kahusayan at husay sa sining ng pagganap.

Bukod dito, tatlong kalahok din ang itinanghal bilang National Finalists sa kani-kanilang larangan. Kabilang dito si Mark Rheyneil Z. Hembrador (BSEDSS 2-1) para sa Dagliang Talumpati, si Charles John D. Lopez (BSEDFL 3-1) para sa Dramatikong Monologo, at si Alexis C. Galera (BSEDEN 3-1) para sa Street Dance.

Ang kanilang mga tagumpay ay nagsilbing inspirasyon at patunay na ang PUP ay patuloy na lumilikha ng mga kabataang Pilipinong may talento, husay, at malalim na pagmamahal sa sining at kultura.
