𝐏𝐔𝐏 𝐑𝐂𝐘𝐂 𝐉𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐏𝐒 𝐀𝐓 𝐏𝐋𝐌𝐂 | 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟏𝟑-𝟏𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines Red Cross Youth Council (PUP RCYC) participated in food repacking operations last August 13 to 14 for families affected by flooding and other impacts of the southwest monsoon or Habagat, and Typhoon Maymay in Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Pangasinan and Tarlac at the Philippine Red Cross Logistics and Multi-Purpose Center (PLMC).

The activity reflects the commitment of Red Cross volunteers to extend humanitarian assistance to communities affected by disasters and emergencies. Through collective action and volunteer service, PUP RCYC continues to uphold the spirit of humanity and service.

Napatalon ka na ba dahil sa alert ng NDRRMC sa phone mo? Narinig mo na rin ba ang electronic voice na nagsasabing “RED,” “ORANGE,” o “YELLOW”? Pero ano nga ba ang ibig sabihin ng mga ito?

Mahalagang malaman ang bawat antas ng rainfall warning upang malaman kung kailan kailangang mag-ingat, manatili sa ligtas na lugar, o iwasang bumiyahe.

RED: Walang tigil ang pag-ulan sa loob ng 1 oras at inaasahang magpapatuloy sa susunod na 2 oras.

ORANGE: Matindi ang pag-ulan sa loob ng 1 oras at inaasahang magpapatuloy sa susunod na 2 oras.

YELLOW: Malakas ang pag-ulan sa loob ng 1 oras at inaasahang magpapatuloy sa susunod na 2 oras.

Kapag may rainfall warning, manatiling alerto, subaybayan ang mga opisyal na abiso, at unahin ang kaligtasan. Iwasang bumiyahe kung hindi kinakailangan, lalo na kapag malakas ang ulan.

📢 𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐋𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐎𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐒

Sa panahon ng tag-ulan, tumataas ang panganib ng pagkakaroon ng leptospirosis, isang sakit na dulot ng bacteria na maaaring makuha sa paglusong sa baha na kontaminado ng ihi ng mga nahawaang hayop.

Upang makaiwas:
• Iwasang lumusong sa baha hangga't maaari.
• Magsuot ng bota at guwantes kung kinakailangang lumusong.
• Maghugas nang mabuti gamit ang malinis na tubig at sabon pagkatapos malantad sa baha.
• Takpan ang mga sugat at hiwa gamit ang waterproof bandages bago lumusong.

Kung makararanas ng mga sintomas tulad ng lagnat, pananakit ng ulo, pananakit ng tiyan, pananakit ng kalamnan, o paninilaw ng mata at balat matapos ma-expose sa baha, agad na magpakonsulta sa pinakamalapit na pagamutan.

Ang kaalaman at pag-iingat ay susi sa pag-iwas sa leptospirosis. Maging mapagmatyag at laging unahin ang kaligtasan.

This August, we observe International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Month, recognizing the principles that seek to protect human dignity during times of armed conflict.

International Humanitarian Law limits the effects of war by safeguarding civilians, protecting those who are no longer participating in hostilities, and regulating the means and methods of warfare. Rooted in humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence, these principles continue to guide humanitarian action around the world.

As members of the Red Cross Youth, let us deepen our understanding of IHL and uphold the values of compassion, respect, and humanity in our communities.

🌱 𝐑𝐂𝟏𝟒𝟑 𝐋𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆 | 𝐉𝐔𝐋𝐘 𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The PUP Red Cross Youth Council participated in the RC143 Luntian Tree Growing initiative in observance of National Disaster Resilience Month 2026.

The activity was conducted by the Philippine Red Cross, in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), to promote environmental stewardship and strengthen community resilience through collective action.

Representing the PUP Red Cross Youth Council in the activity was Xandrel Dizon, who joined fellow Red Cross Youth volunteers in contributing to environmental conservation efforts and the promotion of a more sustainable and disaster-resilient future.
