Today, we join the global celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2026 alongside the IFRC, ICRC, and 191 National Societies around the world.

This day honors the unwavering dedication of volunteers and humanitarian workers who continue to serve communities with compassion, courage, and hope in times of crisis and emergency.

As one movement, we remain committed to humanity and to reaching those who need help the most.

PRC JOINS IFRC, ICRC, AND 191 NATIONAL SOCIETIES IN CELEBRATING WORLD RED CROSS AND RED CRESCENT DAY 2026

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) joins the global celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on May 8, 2026, marking 79 years of nonstop commitment to helping communities worldwide alongside the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and 191 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.

The international observance follows the theme “United in Humanity,” meant to celebrate the volunteers and staff whose support and compassion toward communities shine amidst crises and emergencies around the world.

The day also serves as a call to uphold and protect humanitarian work, ensuring timely support is given to those most in need.

“The Philippine Red Cross volunteers are the backbone of the entire organization. Without their help, it would be nearly impossible to expand our reach and services in the farthest regions of the country. This day is meant to celebrate not only them, but also the millions of Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers worldwide who continue to serve humanity,” said PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement grew from an idea by Jean Henry Dunant in 1859 after witnessing the suffering brought by the Battle of Solferino in Italy.

Today, the Movement is composed of the ICRC, the IFRC, and 191 National Societies working together as the world’s largest humanitarian network.

“The Philippine Red Cross will always look up to the ICRC, IFRC, and our fellow National Societies, and celebrate their humanitarian achievements across the world. Rest assured, the organization will continue strengthening its services in the country while remaining united with the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in serving those most in need,” PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang stated.

The PRC commits its adherence to this year’s theme and ensures its application in the various humanitarian services it offers nationwide.

ANNOUNCEMENT | In line with the recent advisory from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, all in-person classes at the Sta. Mesa Campus – Main Academic Building are suspended today due to a fire incident.

The situation is now under control and the fire has been extinguished. However, everyone is strongly advised to evacuate and safely exit the premises as a precaution against possible harmful smoke or air contaminants.

Classes for the College of Law will continue as scheduled.

We encourage all students to remain calm, follow safety protocols, and prioritize their well-being at all times.

𝗗𝗨𝗚𝗢 𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗜, 𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗢𝗬 𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗔𝗚-𝗔𝗦𝗔 🩸

As part of Red Cross initiatives, 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝟐𝟓 encourages youth (16–30 years old) to donate blood three to four times annually. After completing the program, they will join other donor groups to sustain regular and continuous blood donation.

Hence, in support of the Pledge 25 advocacy, the 𝗣𝗨𝗣 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 (𝗣𝗨𝗣 𝗥𝗖𝗬𝗖) proudly takes part in the much-anticipated Madugong Paligsahan at the UST Frassati Building last 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆).

This proves that the capability of youth as the nation’s hope transcends beyond their intellectual capacity in education, demonstrating that their strength also lies in compassion, civic duty, and willingness to take action in service of others—even without anything financial in return.

Safety in Action! 💪❤

Last Thursday, March 12, the PUP community came together for the 2026 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earth Quake Drill (NSED), to practice preparedness and strengthen our readiness in times of emergencies. 🆘🚨

The PUP Red Cross Youth Council (PUP RCYC) proudly participated in, with coordination with the PUP Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Institute (DRI) and the PUP Medical Services Department. Through this collaboration, the drill helped the community practice proper response, coordination, and first aid readiness during earthquake situations. ❤💪

Preparedness today means safety tomorrow. Let’s continue building a culture of awareness, responsibility, and readiness in our PUP community. Stay alert, stay prepared, and stay safe, PUPians! 🌏🚨

The Red Cross Youth Council proudly volunteered during 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐔𝐂 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 & 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭: 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, held at 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐚 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐚, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚, from January 15–17, providing on-ground support to help ensure the safety, preparedness, and smooth flow of the three-day event.

Through teamwork, dedication, and compassion, our youth volunteers once again embodied the true spirit of humanity in action, while strengthening youth leadership and service.

🎉Earthquake-ready, always steady.🚨❤️

Last November 9, 2025, the PUP Red Cross Youth Council proudly joined the 2025 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) to strengthen our disaster awareness and readiness. 💪✨

Through teamwork, guidance, and hands-on practice, we learned how to respond calmly and correctly during an earthquake — from identifying safe zones to performing the essential Drop, Cover, and Hold. 🙌

Each drill reminds us that preparedness is not just a requirement — it’s an act of care for ourselves, our families, and our community. 🌍❤️

Let’s continue building a culture of safety, resilience, and readiness — always alert, always informed, and always prepared to act when it matters most. ⚡
Preparedness today saves lives tomorrow. 💯
