Its BS Occupational Therapy program is recognized by the World Federation for Occupational Therapy (WFOT) with PACUCOA Level 4 accredited status. The BS Sports Science and Speech-Language Pathology Programs are granted Candidate status by PACUCOA. UST CRS envisions itself of becoming one of the acknowledged leaders in education, research, and community development in the country and in the Asian region in the fields of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Sports Science, and Speech-Language Pathology. In fact, it has been consistently recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as one of the Top Performing Institutions in the Philippine Licensure Examination for Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists.

The University of Santo Tomas proudly marks another milestone in advancing collaborative healthcare education through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Preventive, Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (FMS), and the Department of Occupational Therapy (OT), College of Rehabilitation Sciences.

The Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed by Acting Dean Prof. Donald G. Manlapaz, PhD and Asst. Prof. Allan James T. Tan, MSOT, representing the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, together with Dean Odette Maglinao, MD, and Prof. Ma. Teresa Tricia G. Bautista, MD, representing the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

This partnership establishes a structured Interprofessional Education (IPE) Program aligned with the goals of CHED CMO No. 18, series of 2016, fostering collaboration, shared learning, and patient-centered care among future healthcare professionals.

Through this initiative, both departments reaffirm their commitment to developing competent, compassionate, and collaborative practitioners equipped to address the evolving needs of communities and the healthcare system.

Last March 2026, the Department of Occupational Therapy of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CRS) and the College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) of the University of Santo Tomas officially joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony held at the St. Martin de Porres Building.

The MOU signing was represented by Acting Dean Prof. Donald G. Manlapaz,PhD and Asst. Prof.Allan James T. Tan, MSOT, for the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, and Dean Mary Christie D. Que, LPT, Asst. Prof, Mary Ann Joy A. Lampano, MDS, and Ms. Marie Antonnette G. Bunag, BSID for the College of Fine Arts and Design.

This partnership aims to bridge the gap between health sciences and the arts. The UST CRS Department of Occupational Therapy proudly hosted and now celebrates the successful completion of the USC Chan Sensory Integration Continuing Education Certificate Program – Course 1: Theoretical Foundations of Sensory Integration. 🇺🇸🤝🇵🇭

UST CRS warmly congratulates our 3rd Year BS Occupational Therapy students for completing this international microcredential course, marking the first time that the USC Chan SI CE Course 1 was formally integrated into the undergraduate curriculum as an elective course. 🎓✨

We also recognize the participation of our selected OT and SLP academic staff, practicing occupational therapists, and rehabilitation professionals who joined this shared learning experience, strengthening their theoretical foundations, clinical reasoning, and appreciation of sensory integration as a valuable area of knowledge in practice.

Our heartfelt thanks to the USC Chan Course 1 instructors: Emily C. Sweiss, PhD, OTR/L; Stefanie Bodison, OTD, OTR/L; and Gustavo A. Reinoso, PhD, OTR/L for guiding our learners throughout Course 1.

This milestone reflects UST CRS’s continued commitment to academic excellence, faculty development, global collaboration, and innovative leadership in occupational therapy education.

Four academic staff from CRS participated in the Asian Confederation for Physical Therapy (ACPT) Congress 2026 in Suwon, South Korea, from April 11 to 12, 2026.

Mr. Jose Vergara won the best oral presentation for the study "A Quantitative Study Assessing the Quality & Accuracy of the 50 Most Viewed YouTube Videos on Post-Surgery Anterior Cruciate Ligament Rehabilitation Exercises."

Asst. Prof. Arlene Chiong Maya won the best e-poster presentation for the study "Evidence-Based Practice in Pediatric Physical Therapy: A Scoping Review with Scientometric Analysis." She was also one of the speakers in the symposium on Pediatric Physical Therapy in Asia: Current Landscape and Future Growth.

Asst. Prof. Christian Rey Rimando, who is also the current president of the Philippine Physical Therapy Association, was one of the panel members in the discussion on Physical Therapy Education Across Asia: Current Status and Future Directions.

Prof. Donald Lipardo presented an e-poster titled "Factors Affecting Adherence to Home Exercise Programs Among Geriatric Patients: A Qualitative Study."
