The College of Rehabilitation Sciences was founded in June 1974 and since then it has produced globally competitive physical therapists, occupational therapists, sports scientists, and speech-language pathologists who exude academic excellence, research expertise, compassion, and responsiveness towards the needs of society. Its BS Physical Therapy Program is the first and only CHED recognized Center of Development in the country with PACUCOA Level 4 accredited status. Its BS Occupational Therapy program is recognized by the World Federation for Occupational Therapy (WFOT) with PACUCOA Level 4 accredited status. The BS Sports Science and Speech-Language Pathology Programs are granted Candidate status by PACUCOA. UST CRS envisions itself of becoming one of the acknowledged leaders in education, research, and community development in the country and in the Asian region in the fields of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Sports Science, and Speech-Language Pathology. In fact, it has been consistently recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as one of the Top Performing Institutions in the Philippine Licensure Examination for Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists.

This milestone builds on Course 1: Theoretical Foundations of Sensory Integration: From Theory to Identification, offered from January to May 2026 to both professionals and undergraduate learners. As part of this offering, 15 third-year UST Occupational Therapy students completed Course 1 within their formal program, marking the first microcredential integrated into the UST BS Occupational Therapy curriculum.

With Courses 1 and 2 completed, UST-CRS looks forward to the next stages of the USC Chan Sensory Integration CE pathway through Courses 3 and 4. Asst. Prof. Karen Leslie L. Prof. Ivan Neil B. Prof. Gomez chaired ๐๐ฅ๐ž๐ง๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐’๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐„, which explored key issues affecting authors and peer reviewers, including peer review practices, predatory journals, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing. He also joined an invited panel on ๐ž๐๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐๐ž๐œ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง-๐ฆ๐š๐ค๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž, contributing to discussions on publication quality, research integrity, and post-publication critique.

We congratulate UST-College of Rehabilitation Sciences Assistant Dean Ma. Georgina Diaz-Mojica, MHPEd, RSLP on her well-deserved recognition as the 2026 Outstanding Professional of the Year in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP)!

A prime mover in the profession, Mojica was instrumental in the passage of Republic Act 11294 or the SLP Act in 2019. She is also the Founding Chair of UST's Department of Speech-Language Pathology, which was established in 2009.
