DLSU Department of Mathematics & Statistics A Chronicle of the DLSU Mathematics Department It teaches its students to understand and appreciate the relevance of mathematics to modern society.

The Mathematics Department is consistently recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence. It develops disciplined but flexible minds capable of logical though, critical analysis, imagination, and problem solving. Since its establishment in 1946, the Mathematics Department of De La Salle University-Manila has been a service arm for different units of the University. Ini

tially, it serviced the undergraduate colleges, but in 1964, the Graduate School of Education, Arts and Sciences (GSEAS) began availing of its services as well through the mathematics course offerings for the Master of Arts in Education program with concentration in Mathematics. At present, the faculty of the Department of Mathematics handles graduate and undergraduate courses for students of the College of Science, College of Business and Economics, College of Liberal Arts, College of Computer Studies and College of Education. To provide the students with a good foundation in mathematics, the Department offers the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with specialization in any of the following areas: Actuarial Science/Statistics, Business Applications and Computer Applications. In addition, the Department also provides continuing education in mathematics through its graduate programs in mathematics. Our undergraduate degree program is being offered by DLSU-Manila through the Mathematics Department under the College of Science. The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with specialization in any of the following areas: Actuarial Science/Statistics, Business Applications and Computer Applications. Title: Embedding matrix algebras into ultragraph Leavitt path algebras and applications

Abstract: We provide a criteria for an ultragraph 𝐺 so that for any field 𝐾 and 𝑛 β‰₯ 1, the matrix algebra π˜”π˜―(π˜’) is embedded in the associated Leavitt path algebra of 𝐺. This result, which has not appered in the context of Leavitt path algebras of graphs, is then applied to prove properties of Lie solvable and Lie nilpotent ultragraph Leavitt path algebras.
