The Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) has formally requested an appeal to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) to shift on-site classes to synchronous modality tomorrow, August 14, 2026.

In the letter, as Metro Manila is still exposed to continuous sudden downpours and remains under a Yellow Rainfall Warning, and in consideration of the travel from where the students, faculty members, and staff are located to where the University is located, the AUSG is humbly requesting that classes be conducted synchronously tomorrow, August 14. PAGASA has cautioned that persistent monsoon rains may still trigger flooding, particularly in areas that are saturated from past downpours.

The Adamson University Student Government respectfully acknowledges that the determination of academic modality rests entirely within the prerogative of the University Administration. This appeal is submitted not as a demand, but as a good-faith request made in the interest of the safety and welfare of the students, faculty, and staff who must otherwise travel through unsettled weather to reach the University.

Further updates will be posted once a final decision is made.

As Manila shifts to asynchronous learning beginning at 12 noon today following the suspension of classes, the Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) is making the Falcon Lounge available to students who may be unable to leave campus safely.

The temporary space will serve as a place where stranded Klasmeyts can stay while waiting for conditions outside the University to improve. Students may also use the area as they attend to their asynchronous academic requirements.

Klasmeyts on campus are encouraged to remain in safe areas, coordinate with AUSG representatives for assistance, and keep updated through official University announcements.

With the weather situation still affecting mobility in parts of Manila, students are reminded to prioritize their safety and avoid unnecessary travel.

๐€๐”๐’๐† ๐”๐๐ƒ๐€๐“๐„๐’ | Appeal for Suspension of Classes Amid Inclement Weather and Continuous Flooding

The Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) has formally requested a follow-up appeal to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) for the suspension of classes amid the continuous inclement weather and is now under endorsement.

The AUSG submitted an appeal today at 4:55 AM for an immediate shift of onsite classes to online modality today, August 13, in view of the continuous heavy rain and flooding. As of 6:55 PM yesterday, August 12, PAGASA issued Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 3 in Metro Manila, under a Yellow Warning Level. This appeal was rejected by the VPAA at 8:50 AM due to the lack of an official announcement or directive from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manila, with onsite classes continuing. The University was also monitoring official advisories from PAGASA and other concerned givernment agencies.

A follow-up appeal for the suspension of classes today, August 13, has been formally endorsed to the VPSA, as the City of Manila, where the university stands, is still under a Yellow Warning Level, along with Metro Manila and neighboring cities and provinces.

Concerns from students within the campus have also been raised, with reports of flooding in some areas of the University.

The AUSG remains firm in asking for the suspension of classes to consider the risks and difficulties every Adamsonian is facing. Students' welfare is the utmost priority in this situation, and the AUSG hopes that the University Administration will consider the risks and difficulties our fellow students are facing with respect and trust in its commitment to the welfare of every Adamsonian.

Further updates will be posted once a final decision is made.

๐€๐”๐’๐† ๐”๐๐ƒ๐€๐“๐„๐’ | The VPAA Rejects Appeal to Shift Classes to Asynchronous Modality on August 11, 2026

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) has again rejected the Adamson University Student Government's (AUSG) appeal to shift classes to asynchronous learning modality tomorrow, August 11, 2026.

In response, the VPAA mentioned that various options were discussed among the Academic Administrators, including the possibility of shifting to asynchronous modality. However, after careful consideration, the decision was firm to proceed with synchronous classes.

This decision was reached in consideration of the need to maintain continuity and effectiveness in the teaching and learning process, particularly for courses and learning activities that require real-time interaction, discussion, consultation, demonstration, and immediate feedback between faculty members and students.

As an alternative response to the appeal, Memo No. 38, S. 2026, issued earlier in response to the previous appeal, will still continue to provide appropriate consideration to students who are not able to participate in class due to internet connectivity issues caused by the inclement weather.

The University therefore does not intend to disregard or diminish the difficulties being experienced by students whose communities have been affected by flooding, power interruptions, and connectivity problems. Rather, the University seeks to address these concerns while also ensuring that students who are able and prepared to participate in synchronous classes are given the opportunity to continue their learning as effectively as possible.

The AUSG will continue to speak for the student body, especially at times when students' welfare and concerns are the utmost priority in circumstances beyond their control.

๐€๐”๐’๐† ๐”๐๐ƒ๐€๐“๐„๐’ | Appeal to Shift to Asynchronous Modality on August 11, 2026

The Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) has formally appealed to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) to shift from synchronous learning modality to asynchronous learning modality for tomorrow, August 11, 2026, due to the continuous inclement weather.

In the letter, the AUSG appealed for classes tomorrow to be implemented asynchronously. As of this evening, the City of Manila, where the university stands and where many of the students reside, remains under a Red Rainfall Warning from the NDRRMC. This warning not only covers Manila but also neighboring cities and provinces where a substantial number of students and faculty members live and commute from.

The AUSG is humbly requesting the VPAA for a temporary adjustment to shift to asynchronous learning mode in consideration of the circumstances that students are currently facing during these times.

We, the Adamson University Student Government, respectfully call on the University Administration to consider the safety, well-being, academic welfare, and concerns of students in determining the appropriate learning modality for tomorrow. This preserves learning while ensuring no Adamsonian is left behind.

The AUSG respectfully submitted this appeal in good faith, trusting the University's commitment to the welfare of our community.

Further updates will be released once an official decision is made.
