A statement regarding the LGU authoritiesโ€™ delayed announcement of class suspensions and the exclusion of college students from timely advisories.

The Arellano University Supreme Student Council โ€“ Manila strongly calls on the LGU Authorities to ensure that class suspension announcements are timely, clear, and inclusive of college students. Delayed advisories put college students at unnecessary risk, forcing many to travel and spend on transportation before a suspension is finally announced, despite facing the same dangers brought by severe weather.

Following the recent post of Arellano University (Official), wherein only Basic Education classes will remain online, the Arellano University Supreme Student Councilโ€“Manila reiterates its request for the temporary shift to synchronous online classes for August 11, 2026 for college students, in consideration of the prevailing weather conditions.

While online learning may help minimize travel risks, we recognize that some students may still face flooding, power interruptions, connectivity issues, and other weather-related challenges. We therefore appeal for the University and faculty membersโ€™ understanding and reasonable consideration toward students who may be unable to attend or complete requirements due to circumstances beyond their control.

Student safety must remain a priority. The AUSSC-Manila will continue to advocate for the welfare of the student body and provide updates as they become available.
