𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 | 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟐𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

There are chapters in our history that must never be reduced to dates in a textbook. Martial Law was a period marked by grave human rights abuses and the suffering of countless Filipinos—𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙.

𝗚𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗼. 𝗡𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻. 𝗡𝗮𝗮𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻.

We remember 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙠.

And today, as our country continues to face questions of accountability, public trust, misinformation, and the protection of civic space, remembering becomes more than looking back. It becomes a responsibility.

𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝.
𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐮𝐩.
𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞.

𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗮𝗻; 𝗸𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗸𝘂𝘆𝗮𝗻.

𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗘 | 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 21, 2026

Peace rarely announces itself. It shows up in small, almost invisible ways, in a conversation where we 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 instead of interrupt, in a disagreement 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗼 instead of closing our hearts, in the moments we decide 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁. We tend to think of peace as something that happens to us—a ceasefire, a quiet news day, an absence of trouble. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲. 𝘼 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙘𝙡𝙚. 𝘼 𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙩. 𝘼 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩.

To invest in peace is not always to make a grand gesture. Sometimes, it means investing our time, our patience, our understanding, and our courage in the people around us. It means choosing to build something better, even when it would be easier to walk away.

This year, we’re not just marking a day. We’re asking what it would look like if peace were something we built on purpose—in our classrooms, our friendships, our timelines, our communities, and our silences.

𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆.

𝗔𝘀 𝗨𝗡 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆-𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝘁ó𝗻𝗶𝗼 𝗚𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀:

His words remind us that 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. It can begin much closer to home, in the way we speak, listen, disagree, forgive, and 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

𝗦𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
𝗧𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 | 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Democracy is more than a vote cast every election. It is the freedom to question, the courage to speak, the responsibility to listen, and the power of ordinary Filipinos to demand better from those entrusted to serve the nation.

But let us ask ourselves:

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝘀?

In a country where misinformation can spread faster than truth, where public trust can easily be shaken, and where questions of accountability continue to demand our attention, silence should never be mistaken for peace—and apathy should never be mistaken for neutrality.

𝐀 𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐘 𝐃𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐁𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐄. 𝐈𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐏𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓.

As Filipinos, we have the right to speak—but with that right comes the responsibility to 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳𝘀, 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.

Let us not allow our democracy to become something we remember only during elections.

Let us protect it 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆; through our voices, our choices, our courage, and our willingness to hold power accountable.

Because the Philippines does not need citizens who simply watch.

The Arellano University Supreme Student Council – Manila formally requests the temporary shift of the learning modality on September 14–15, 2026, to ADM (Alternative Delivery Mode) due to the announced nationwide transport strike. Based on announcements from transport organizations, including MANIBELA, and mainstream media reports, the strike is expected to significantly affect public transportation and commuters’ safety and mobility.

The Student Council prioritizes the welfare and safety of the student body, especially during circumstances that may affect their daily commute and access to education.

Note: The request is currently pending administrative approval and remains under review and consideration by the University Administration.
