It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Assistant Professor Enrico Yambao, former faculty member of the College of Science and served as Department Chair of the Math and Physics Department.

Authored by Patricia Marie P. Oliva, Sarleen G. Castro, Joe Anthony H. Manzano, Hayato Ishikawa, and Mario A. Tan, this study explored the therapeutic potential of Pandanus odorifer, revealing that its methanolic extract potently inhibits advanced glycation end products, while three isolated compounds, most notably blumenol C glucoside, significantly reduce Alzheimer's-associated amyloid-β aggregation.

Kasalukuyang nangangailangan ng agarang tulong ang ating mga kapatid sa 𝐊𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞, 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐳, 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥.

Dahil sa hagupit ng habagat, makapal at malalim na putik ang bumalot sa mga kabahayan at kalsada sa Kasiglahan Village. Maraming pamilya ang nananatiling kulong o stranded sa kanilang mga tahanan at nahaharap ngayon sa matinding panganib sa kalusugan dulot ng kontaminadong tubig-baha at putik.

Makikita sa ibaba ang mga larawan ng kasalukuyang sitwasyon sa komunidad, gayundin ang listahan ng mga kagamitang agarang kinakailangan.

Bukas po ito para sa ating UST Science alumni, academic staff, college staff at GSAA partners.

As of Year 2025 data, forest cover in the Philippines stands at approximately 7.22 million hectares, or only about 24% of the country's total land area. This is a severe decline from historical levels of over 70% in the early 1900s and remains well below the estimated 54% threshold recommended to sustain ecological balance.

With only 24% forest cover remaining and a very alarming ecological state at that, the Philippines is losing its most critical natural defense against climate disasters.

As GSAA's initial action and contribution to help Mother Nature heal, we have partnered with UST Simbahayan and its partner community in Sitio Galilee in Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo, Rizal to hold a community tree planting project on September 12, 2026 (Saturday).

OUR MISSION: To help mitigate climate change and to create an eco-friendly and sustainable livelihood for Sitio Galilee as one of UST Simbahayan’s partner communities in Antipolo, Rizal through a tree planting activity which also encourages prioritization and appreciation of Philippine native trees and other plant species and to educate the partner community about permaculture.

OUR PROJECT GOAL: To plant at least 100 seedlings of PH native trees and fruit bearing trees in Sitio Galilee.

Ngayong bagong taong akademiko, muli nating isinasabuhay ang ating tungkulin bilang mga Tomasinong siyentista: masigasig sa pagkatuto, may pusong mapagkalinga, at katuwang sa pag-usad ng agham para sa lipunan.

Bilang mga mag-aaral ng BS Chemistry, kabilang kayo sa isang pamilyang hindi lamang nakatuon sa mga kemikal na reaksyon at elemento, kundi maging sa tunay na diwa ng agham, ang makabuluhan at responsableng pananaliksik.
