From the laboratory to the halls of law, our BS Chemistry alumna (Batch 2018), Angelique Cabanlong, exemplifies how a strong foundation in chemistry can open doors to diverse and impactful career paths.

A licensed chemist, researcher, student leader, and now a future lawyer, Angelique's journey reflects the excellence, adaptability, and leadership that the BS Chemistry program strives to cultivate. Her story reminds us that chemistry is not only a pathway to science, it is also a springboard to opportunities beyond traditional boundaries.

We are proud to celebrate Angelique and her remarkable achievements as she continues to make her mark in the legal profession.

THOMASIAN CHEMIST LOOKS BACK ON PATH FROM SCIENCE TO LAW

Chemistry alumna Angelique Cabanlong chose an unconventional path after graduation, pursuing law instead of medicine.

For Cabanlong, her years in law school were defined by growth, change, and unexpected turns — a journey she described as “full of rollercoasters.”

“I think one of the things that I also learned is to have the perfect community for you because you can grow with the people that you are surrounded with and you will have the best memories in the university,” she said.

She said UST’s “hug culture” reflected the warmth and sense of belonging that helped her navigate the demands of law school.

Before entering the Faculty of Civil Law in 2022, Cabanlong earned her degree in Chemistry, passed the Chemist Licensure Examination in 2018, and worked as a chemist and researcher in a personal care manufacturing company.

During law school, she served as treasurer, external vice president, and eventually president of the Civil Law Student Council.
