Authored by Kun-Hao Luo, Chen-An Chang, Sheng-Yen Hsiao, Po-Ting Lee, Yi-Ting Kao, Jolleen Natalie I. Balitaan, Shu-Rung Lin, Wen-Tyng Li,and Jui-Ming Yeh, bridges the gap between robust structural support and dynamic adaptability, a newly developed chitosan-based hybrid hydrogel is changing the game for biomaterials. By utilizing an innovative in situ sol-gel crosslinking process, this composite achieves a storage modulus of ~500 kPa, boosting its mechanical strength by over 400-fold compared to conventional organic controls. Remarkably, this massive increase in rigidity does not compromise its flexibility; the hydrogel maintains an impressive 87.6% self-healing efficiency and exhibits exceptional hydrolytic stability, retaining ~95% of its weight over a four-week period.

Authored by Key Simfroso, Gina Catalan, Alistaire Kerwin Acma, Chelsea Mae Escutin, Marvin Louise Carpena, Joey Pangilinan, Denmar Magsalay, Abbey Nicole Franco, and Dharmatov Rahula Albano, this study transforms agricultural waste into durable metal protection by extracting amorphous silica from rice husk ash. Blended seamlessly into an epoxy matrix, this eco-friendly alternative to commercial fillers creates a defect-free composite coating. It delivers an impressive 71.87% corrosion inhibition efficiency and easily resists cracking under 180-degree bend tests, proving to be both highly protective and mechanically robust.
