The University of Santo Tomas - Department of Industrial Engineering has successfully concluded its ABET accreditation general visit, conducted last November 16–18, 2025.

We were privileged to host Prof. Larry Head, Ph.D., our ABET Program Evaluator, who thoroughly assessed our curriculum, assessment systems, laboratory facilities, student outcomes, and continuous improvement practices.

Our deepest appreciation goes to Prof. Head for his valuable insights and professional review. We likewise extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated faculty, staff, students, alumni, and industry partners for their steadfast support throughout the preparation and the visit.

This achievement showcases our pursuit of excellence in providing globally competitive and industry-relevant industrial engineering education at the University of Santo Tomas.

Congratulations to our student, Mr. Marc Gabrielle M. Balahadia, for his successful presentation of their research at the International Conference on Industrial Sustainability and Applications (ICISA 2025) held at Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan.

The research entitled "Factors Affecting Gate Attendance in Sports League Games in the Philippines by Push-and-Pull Mooring Theory and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling" was co-authored by Luis Miguel D. Lazaro, Miguel Angelo L. Cabangon, and Keon Miguel B. Maniego, under the guidance of the Industrial Engineering Laboratory Supervisor and Academic Staff, Engr. Yoshiki B. Kurata, Ph.D., CIE, AAE, and Engr. Rommel C. Dela Cruz, MSIE.

Congratulations to our BS Industrial Engineering graduates, Nicole Ann L. Angkaw, Sarah Grace Emmanuelle S. Cabanacan, Kristel Ann S. Catiis, Julia Beatrice Marie L. Maquinto, and their mentor, Department of Industrial Engineering academic staff and Laboratory Supervisor Engr. Yoshiki B. Kurata, PhD, CIE, Assoc. ASEAN Engr.

Their study entitled “Factors Affecting Perceived Career Decision-Making of Filipinos Across Generational Cohorts: A Structural Equation Modeling Approach” explored the relationship between generational cohorts, cultural influences, and behavioral intention in career decision-making among Filipinos.

It has been officially published in the Proceedings of the 22nd Congress of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA 2024) under the Springer Series in Design and Innovation (SSDI, Volume 41) — a globally recognized publication series highlighting innovation, design, and human-centered research. Their inclusion in SpringerLink marks a significant achievement for the University, underscoring the global impact of Thomasian undergraduate research that integrates behavioral science, innovation, and social development.

Congratulations to our BS Industrial Engineering graduates, Thea Andrea G. Abner, Psalmantha C. Galotera, Marianne D.C. Lobederio, and their mentor, Department of Industrial Engineering academic staff and Laboratory Supervisor Engr. Yoshiki B. Kurata, PhD, CIE, Assoc. ASEAN Engr.

Their study entitled "Factors Affecting Filipinos’ Perception of Purchasing Life Insurance: An Integration of the Theory of Planned Behavior" investigated behavioral and generational factors influencing Filipinos’ decisions to purchase life insurance using the Theory of Planned Behavior framework.

It has been officially published in the Proceedings of the 22nd Congress of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA 2024) under the Springer Series in Design and Innovation (SSDI, Volume 41) — a globally recognized publication series highlighting innovation, design, and human-centered research.
