UP Sigma Alpha Nu Sorority Manila ฮฃAN is a duly recognized organization at the University of the Philippines founded upon the principle of Truth, Reason, and Justice.

The Sigma Alpha Nu Sorority is an organization of ladies from the University of the Philippines with the primary cause of serving the Filipino people. It upholds the principle of Truth, Reason and Justice, and promotes the goals of Nationalism, Academic Excellence, Leadership, and Uplift of Women through premier events, socially relevant projects, and active participation in the student council. P Sigma Alpha Nu Manila was formed on July 10, 1988 with an initial batch of 9 ladies. Since then, the Sorority has produced sisters who are leaders and achievers in different fields.

Sa araw na ito, nakikiisa ang UP Sigma Alpha Nu Sorority Manila sa sambayanang Pilipino sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kalayaan. Binibigyang-diin ang patuloy na pakikibaka para sa tunay na pambansang kasarinlan.

Ginugunita natin ang pamana ng deklarasyon ng kalayaan noong ika-12 ng Hunyo 1898 habang tuwirang hinaharap ang mga makabagong pananaw at patakarang tumuturing sa ating teritoryo bilang isang piyesa lamang sa larong pampulitika o isang kasangkapang maaaring ipagpalit sa pandaigdigang usapan.

Mula sa mga nakatagong kundisyong pang-ekonomiya hanggang sa lantad na panghihimasok sa ating mga karagatan, ang mga ganitong kilos ay sumisira sa pambansang dignidad at nagpapatuloy sa hindi pagkakapantay-pantay sa daigdig. Sa makasaysayang araw na ito, matatag ang aming paninindigan: ang tunay na kalayaan ay nangangailangan ng walang pag-aalinlangang pagtatanggol sa ating bansa.

Mariin naming tinututulan ang mapagpasakop na pananaw na ang maliliit na bansa ay walang ibang pagpipilian kundi yumuko sa mga makapangyarihang bansa, gayundin ang paniniwalang ang pagsuko ng bahagi ng ating teritoryo ang tanging daan tungo sa kapayapaan. Pinanghahawakan namin ang paninindigang ito sapagkat ang pagiging kampante ay tahimik na pumapatay sa kalayaan.

Sa pagpasok ng taong 2026, nananatiling ang mga manggagawa ang pangunahing nagpupuno sa kaban ng bayan sa pamamagitan ng kanilang mga buwis. Gayunpaman, sa kabila ng napakalaking ambag, patuloy na kinakaharap ng mga manggagawang Pilipino ang krisis sa mababang sahod at kawalan ng seguridad sa trabaho. Habang tumataas ang presyo ng mga bilihin at serbisyo, nananatiling nakapako sa lupa ang sahod na hindi sapat para sa maayos at disenteng pamumuhay. Ang reyalidad na ito ay lalong pinapait ng katotohanang ang mga buwis na kinaltas mula sa pawis ng mga manggagawa ay madalas na napupunta lamang sa bulsa ng mga mapang-abusong opisyal ng gobyerno. Sa kabila ng paghihirap ng mga manggagawa, sila ay patuloy na lumalaban para sa sistemikong pagbabago, sapat na sahod, at pagkilala sa dignidad ng bawat manggagawa.

Ang aming paninindigan ay nakaugat sa prinsipyo na ang katarungan sa paggawa ay katarungan para sa buong bansa. Kung ang mga manggagawa ay binabayaran nang sapat at nakatatanggap ng nararapat na benepisyo, nagkakaroon sila ng kakayahang itaguyod ang kanilang pamilya. Mariin naming kinokondena ang sistemang pinapabigat ang pasanin ng mga manggagawa sa pamamagitan ng mataas na buwis, habang malaya namang nilulustay ng mga kurap ang pondong dapat sana ay nakalaan para sa serbisyong panlipunan.

Sa pagdiriwang na ito, ang aming panawagan ay: โ€œ๐ˆ๐ญ๐š๐š๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐  ๐’๐š๐ก๐จ๐, ๐’๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ง ๐š๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐ ๐š ๐Š๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ฉ! ๐Š๐š๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐š๐ง ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐š ๐ฌ๐š ๐Œ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ ๐š๐ ๐š๐ฐ๐š๐ง๐  ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐จ!โ€ Mas lalo nating palalimin ang ating kamalayan at paninindigan.
