𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 | Follow-Up Request for the Rescheduling of Preliminary Examinations

The University Student Council has formally submitted a letter to the University requesting the consideration of moving the scheduled Preliminary Examinations to a later date.

This request was raised in consideration of the recent class cancellations, adverse weather conditions, transportation and flooding concerns, and the extension of the enrollment period, which have affected students’ ability to adequately prepare for their examinations.

All UE students and employees who were exposed to floodwaters during the recent flooding are strongly advised to act immediately.

The University of the East, through the Office of the President, University Medical Clinic, Office of Extension and Community Outreach (OECO), Department of Human Resources and Development (DHRD), Student Affairs Office (SAO), and University Student Council (USC), is coordinating the provision of doxycycline prophylaxis for affected members of the UE community.

𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 | REQUEST TO SHIFT LEARNING MODALITY TO ONLINE SYNCHRONOUS ON AUGUST 20, 2026 DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS

In light of the ongoing severe weather conditions and the red rainfall warning over Metro Manila, the University Student Council, together with the UE Manila College Councils, has formally requested the shift to online synchronous classes on August 20, 2026.

With heavy rainfall, flooding, traffic disruptions, and limited transportation affecting students across different areas, commuting to and from the University may pose significant safety risks.

The councils also requested academic leniency regarding attendance, recognizing that unstable internet connectivity and power interruptions may affect students’ participation during online sessions.

The USC and the UE Manila College Councils continue to advocate for the safety and well-being of the student body while ensuring the continuity of learning during severe weather conditions.

Ang bayanihan ng mga estudyante ay hindi dapat maging kapalit ng responsibilidad ng mga institusyon.

Mariing kinikilala ng University Student Council ang malasakit at pagkukusa ng mga Mandirigmang tumulong sa mga estudyanteng na-stranded sa University of the East noong gabi ng Agosto 17, 2026. Nararapat lamang na sila ay kilalanin at pasalamatan sa kanilang agarang pagtugon.

Kasabay nito, nananawagan ang USC sa University of the East at sa mga kinauukulang opisyal na maging mas maagap sa pagtugon sa panahon ng krisis. Hindi dapat kailangang makiusap, paulit-ulit na manawagan, o maghintay nang matagal ang Student Council bago kumilos para sa kaligtasan ng mga estudyante.

Sa panahon ng panganib, ang mga estudyanteng na-stranded ang dapat unang inuuna. Hindi dapat hintaying lumala ang sitwasyon bago magbukas ng ligtas na matutuluyan, magbigay ng pangunahing pangangailangan, o gumawa ng desisyong makapagliligtas sa mga estudyante.

Hindi sapat ang bayanihan. Hindi sapat ang resiliency. Nararapat sa bawat Mandirigma ang maagap na proteksyon, paghahanda, at pagkilos.

𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 | REQUEST FOR A MEETING TO DEVELOP EMERGENCY MITIGATION PROTOCOLS FOLLOWING THE AUGUST 17, 2026 INCIDENT

Following the severe flooding on August 17 that left numerous students stranded on campus and across the University Belt, the University Student Council has formally requested a meeting with the University Administration to address gaps in the University's emergency response protocols.

The Council seeks to discuss the availability of safe spaces, emergency medical assistance, coordination with rescue groups, emergency food supplies, and improved protocols for future incidents.

As severe weather conditions become increasingly unpredictable, the USC believes that emergency preparedness must evolve to ensure that students are protected and supported when calamities occur.

The Council remains committed to working with the Administration in developing a safer, more responsive, and better-prepared emergency system for the entire UE community.
