UNITY STATEMENT OF THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CENTRAL STUDENT GOVERNMENT & COLLEGE STUDENT COUNCILS ON THE 54TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 1972 MARTIAL LAW DECLARATION

On this 21st of September 2026, may we reminisce on the tragic event that has claimed thousands of lives. May the silent cries of the past echo through today as a reminder that there was once a time, where our freedom and security were compromised. On this day, we uphold the memories of the thousands who have fallen in solitude, and stand with those who have fought for the freedom we have today.

Hindi mabubura ang mga karanasan ng mga Pilipinong nakaranas ng paglabag sa kanilang mga karapatan noong panahon ng Batas Militar. Hindi mawawala ang mga kuwento ng mga nawalan ng kalayaan, mga pamilyang naapektuhan, at mga Pilipinong patuloy na hinarap ang mga epekto ng panahong iyon. These experiences remain part of our history, and they deserve to be remembered with truth and respect.

Bilang bahagi ng National University community, kinikilala ng National University Central Student Government at ng mga College Student Councils ang mahalagang papel ng kabataan sa pag-alala, pag-unawa, at pagpapanatili ng mga aral ng ating kasaysayan. Today, we stand together in affirming the importance of historical truth, academic freedom, human rights, and democracy. Ang pag-alala ay hindi lamang responsibilidad ng iilan, kundi layunin ng bawat mamamayang Pilipino—one that calls us to ensure that the stories, struggles, and lessons of the past remain known to the generations that follow.

As we step foot on the streets on this day, may we bear in mind our fellow Filipinos whose lives were cut short because of those who abused their power. As we traverse the digital age, may we never forget the truth that those in power continuously try to erase. Hindi lamang ito para paninindigan para sa tama, ngunit gawin natin itong testigo na hinding-hindi mabubura ng mga taong sakim sa kapangyarihan ang karapatan ng bawat mamamayang Pilipino para sa hustisya, kalayaan, at pag laban para sa maayos na kinabukasan.

At habang may mga Pilipinong nakakaalala, patuloy na mabubuhay ang mga kuwentong hindi dapat kalimutan.

The CEAS Student Council’s Secretary, Dwayne Cayabyab, and Treasurer, Ian Tandoy, attended the CSE’s Constitutional Election Code Consultation 2026, engaging in discussions on the proposed guidelines and provisions that will shape the conduct of student elections.

CEASSC continues to strengthen its engagement with fellow student leaders and organizations by fostering collaboration, meaningful dialogue, and active participation in matters that concern the student community.

Small acts, when done together, can make a lasting difference.

The CEASSC joined the SM By the Bay International Coastal Cleanup, coming together to help keep our shores clean and contribute to a healthier environment. Through every collected piece of waste and every hour spent volunteering, we were reminded that caring for our environment starts with taking action.

Together, we continue to turn service into meaningful change—one shoreline at a time.

The College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (CEASSC), went to Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to attend Dalumat at Diskurso: Bridging Inquiries and Realities earlier today, September 18, 2026.

The event served as a platform to share ideas, perspective, and inquiries to apply research into reality.
