September 21 marks a painful chapter in Philippine history the declaration of Martial Law in 1972. Today, we remember the voices that were silenced, the rights that were restricted, and the many Filipinos whose lives were deeply affected during that period.

But remembering is not only about looking back. It is also about understanding history, learning from it, and recognizing the value of freedom, human rights, democracy, and the courage to speak up. On this day, we honor the lessons of our history and recognizes the power of people to remember, speak up and demand accountability.
