🎬 Calling all DLSU student filmmakers!

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) is inviting Filipino student filmmakers to participate in the 2026 MMFF Student Shorts Competition.

This year’s theme, “Paskong Pinoy / Pasko Sa Atin,” invites students to tell meaningful and original stories about the Filipino Christmas experience through narrative, documentary, animation, or other film genres.

Who can join?

🇵🇭 Filipino students aged **15–23** who are currently enrolled in a Philippine school or university.

What you need to know:

* 🏆 **16 semi-finalists** receive a **₱20,000 Script Development Grant**, mentorship, and story-development workshops
* 🎬 **8 finalists** receive a **₱50,000 Production Grant** and filmmaking workshops
* 🏆 **Best Student Short Film** receives **₱100,000**
* 🍿 The eight finalist films will be screened nationwide alongside the official MMFF films from **December 25, 2026 to January 7, 2027**

Congratulations to our CAM students Kizabelle Aromin, Vian Leonardo, Andrea Estrella, Kirsten Lei Ventenilla, Sophie Guillermo, and Harvey Chua! Their documentary project, "Karatig-Tubig," just won 1st place in the Documentary Category at this year's Gawad Alternatibo Film Festival!

Gawad Alternatibo is the longest-running independent film and video competition in Asia. It’s a big part of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

The students produced Karatig-Tubig with the following roles:

Kizabelle Aromin (director)
Vian Leonardo (producer, camera, research)
Andrea Estrella (editing, camera)
Kirsten Lei Ventenilla (main cinematographer, editing)
Sophie Guillermo (research, audio, camera)
Harvey Chua (audio)

The documentary was produced under the supervision of Mr. Kristoffer Brugada in their Documentary Filmmaking class.

Thank you to our incoming AB-OCM majors for choosing AB OCM and for attending our online orientation this week. After discussing the program flowchart, courses for Term 1 Academic Year 2026-2027, and enrollment reminders, our orientation ended with Q&A from our incoming majors.

The AB-OCM program also appreciates the presence of Ms. Moreno (TeamComm representative) and Ms. Vasquez (OCM student representative) for their tips on how to enjoy the rigor of OCM.

The Sports Photography (SPORPHO) classes invite the Lasallian community to their Finals Photo Essay
Presentation, where every frame tells a story of passion, perseverance, and the moments that define sport.

Witness the student athletes from the DLSU Green Archers Basketball Team, Green Spikers, Paddlers, Green and Lady
Jins, Poomsae Team, Judo Team, Green Shuttlers, Lady Tankers, Lady Booters, Lady Archers, Woodpushers, Animo
Squad and more, as they present their Finals Photo Essays for their Sports Photography classes.

SPORPHO Instructor Winston Baltasar says this is 10th year (from 2016) that the Photo Exhibits have been presented at
DLSU Manila. Interestingly, this is the first year that the Photo Exhibits will be presented at DLSU Laguna campus.

Zoom).

Attendance is required for all students enrolled in QLY-OCM who have confirmed their slots; as well as for all successful
shiftees. The orientation will provide information on the following:

The Department of Communication is happy to host the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) for a forum on libel, cyberlibel, media freedom, and ethical journalism.

Bringing together students, media practitioners, and legal experts, the forum explores the challenges facing Philippine journalism today while equipping participants with practical skills to navigate legal and ethical issues in reporting.

We thank the NUJP, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and all other stakeholders for making this forum possible this morning.
